| | | Dear Marc and alice,
Last week, power companies launched a misleading media campaign to push an industry wish list bill through Congress. This bill (H.R. 8) would create a giant loophole for dam owners so they can avoid requirements to protect water quality and wildlife.
The hydropower industry is pushing all kinds of misinformation about how hydropower is clean energy and how their bill will help streamline the dam licensing process. But we know that when they talk about “streamlining,” they really mean “steam rolling” clean water and endangered species protections.
We need to step up our campaign against these misleading claims. Will you chip in to help us counter these attacks?
Yes, I'll chip in to help defend our rivers.
This bill would be a massive loophole for the industry. If it passes, the voices of local communities and people like you would be silenced when it comes to dam operations. We could see more dead fish, more dried up rivers, and degraded water quality on rivers and streams nationwide.
We need to keep the momentum going. Even $10 will help support our efforts to get the truth out, and fight back against efforts to put profits for dam owners before clean water and river health. Your support will help stop the hydropower industry from rolling back the safeguards that protect our rivers from damaging dams. And it will help us continue working to protect rivers nationwide. Will you chip in?
Yes, I'll chip in to help defend our rivers.
Thanks for standing with us.
Sincerely,
Jeff Wiedner Director, Online Community American Rivers | |
