Friends,

A former colleague of mine (Jessica Stebbins Bina, copied here) has authored an amicus brief in a case in front of the Supreme Court.  In that case, the state of Georgia argues that it may assert copyright protections to its state code and annotations, and place those documents behind a paywall.  Jessica is looking for current and former government officials--State or Federal, Democrat and Republican--to sign on as amicus in support of Public.Resouce.Org in arguing that such state publications should not be subject to Copyright protection.

Attached is a draft of that brief.

I have signed on as a former Principal Deputy General Counsel at the US Department of Agriculture.  If you have questions, or would like to sign-on, please contact Jessica directly.  If you know of other current or former government officials (state or federal, Democrat or Republican), please feel free to share this with them and have them contact Jessica.

The deadline is Monday.

Thank you.
