BERLINROSEN PUBLIC AFFAIRS
Vice President
BerlinRosen Public Affairs is seeking a Vice President to work with our team to help our national and New York labor and issue advocacy clients meet a wide range of campaign and communications goals in a changing media environment.
The position is ideal for candidates with 6+ years of relevant experience in strategic communications. Excellent writing skills are a must. There are positions available in both our New York and Washington DC offices.
This position provides candidates with a unique opportunity to join a talented and growing team working with major national and New York progressive organizations on some of the most high-profile issues of our time. BerlinRosen's current and recent clients are at the forefront of progressive work around low-wage worker advocacy, creative union organizing, women's issues, voting rights, the environment, affordable housing, Wall Street accountability, human rights, LGBT issues, healthcare, education, money in politics and ending mass incarceration.
Job responsibilities will include:
- Overall strategy and planning for client accounts, with supervision, as part of a larger team
- Overseeing development of strategy documents, communications plans, with supervision/assistance of senior staff
- Writing messaging documents

Pitching key national and local reporters
- Managing multiple client accounts and multiple staff
- Maintaining reporter relationships

Actively supporting business development
- Editing and conceptualizing press releases, op-eds, fact sheets, talking points, editorial board memos, and other communications documents

Proactively proposing creative ideas for helping clients achieve their goals
- Providing advice on creative, effective social media strategies
Applicants should possess:
- 3+ years demonstrated staff management experience working in a team to meet group objectives
- Demonstrated relationships with national or New York reporters at top-tier outlets
- Demonstrated issue experience in one of BerlinRosen's issue areas
- Excellent news and political savvy; deep knowledge of the national or New York media
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with varying levels of staff, clients, the media and others
- Experience leading communications/media campaigns around policy or political issues
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint

The administrative assistant will be responsible for greeting visitors; managing incoming phone calls; ordering office supplies and other special projects. This position reports to the Operations Director.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional office presence and phone manners, maintain complete discretion and poise under pressure, effective written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize time sensitive assignments.
