*** MEDIA ADVISORY ***
Congressman Jimmy Gomez and Senator Patty Murray to Introduce Women’s Health Bill with Planned Parenthood, Human Rights Watch, and Black Women’s Health Imperative
Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) will hold a press event at the United States Capitol to introduce the bill. The legislation – named in honor of Jeanette Acosta, a native of California’s 34th district who lost her battle with cervical cancer at the age of 32 – would expand access to preventive, lifesaving women’s health screenings at safety net healthcare providers through the creation of new grant and pilot programs to expand access to preventive services and better train health practitioners, especially for low-income women and women of color.
Congressman Gomez will be joined by the Acosta family, Planned Parenthood President and CEO Dr. Leana Wen, Human Rights Watch Researcher Skye Wheeler, and Black Women’s Health Imperative President and CEO Linda Goler Blount.
Please RSVP if you plan on attending: Eric....@mail.house.gov
