Dear Andy,
I downloaded the zip archive from the link you provided and after expanding the archive, I see a the sites/all/modules folder populated with the modules we have included with OERbit. Did you choose the .tar.gz option or thr .zip option on that page?

I'm wondering if it was a temporary hiccup since these archives are automatically generated by Github.

I'm sorry to not provide much by way of useful support, but I would recommend either cloning the Git repository by doing a
git clone git://github.com/openmichigan/OERbit.git <your directory name> or attempting another download of the archive.

Please consider joining the Google Group for OERbit at http://groups.google.com/group/oerbit since it will automatically archive your question and any provided answers so others may benefit from them.

Best,
Ali Asad

Hi Ali,

I was able to get it installed. I enabled all the required modules as
well as permissions. What other configuration is needed in order to
get the module to work?

Dear Andy,
Glad to hear that you were able to get it installed. Currently OERbit includes Drupal and all other module dependencies rather than being a single module that is installed into a pre-existing Drupal instance.

We have installation instructions at https://open.umich.edu/wiki/Install/Upgrade_Documentation but please note that they are a first cut, so they may not be as instructive as you'd like.

Does my response provide any further information of use?

Best,
Ali Asad

I appreciate your help, Ali. I don't want to mess up my existing
Drupal installation so I think I'll try to find a different option for
this particular objective.

Thanks again,

Of course Andy, glad I could be of help. OERbit is currently best
deployed as a standalone OER publishing system built on Drupal than as
a module or set of modules for Drupal. It would be installed into a
separate directory and use a separate database, so it would be quite
unlikely for it to mess up your existing Drupal install. However, it
is currently challenging to install individual modules from the OERbit
codebase.

Since it is on Github you're welcome to clone our repository and
create a your own repository/ies comprised only of individual modules.

Best,
Ali
