I apologize for the cross post. We're hoping to get more workshops for our first ever 'Technology for Nonprofits & Communities' hosted by Sector67. See details below. Ben, can you post to Web Design Group?

Madison Nonprofit Day is upon us (Thursday, 11 August 2011). This year we've joined with Sector67 and plan to host a technology track for Madison Nonprofit Day called, "Technology for Nonprofits & Communities."

Technology for Nonprofits & Communities is designed to offer sessions that appeal to nonprofits, social entrepreneurs, accidental techies, students, and the community. Sector67 is Madison's collaborative learning environment which encourages interaction with technology— software, hardware, electronics, art, sewing, pottery, glass, metalwork, iPhone/Android applications, legos, games, etc.

We have some great workshops in place, but have room for few more, 3-5, depending on size and length. Sessions can be .5hr, 1hr, 1.5hrs or 2 hours. They can be interactive, presentations, hands-on, lightning or ignite sessions*, etcetera. We have three weeks to fill out 'Technology for Nonprofits & Communities.'

Introductions to products (MailChimp, CivicCRM, Twilio, etc. not sales pitches), introductions to solutions (SMSMyBus, etc.), hands-on (camera/video, code, mobile tech, etc.), discussions (how to make technology useful, managing stakeholders, funding open source, coping), and presentations are all workshop/session options that you can submit. These are informal proposals, just send an email with a title and a brief description of your proposed workshop.

Submissions are due by Saturday, 31 July 2011, so we can add them to upcoming publicity. Send proposals to madison.no...@gmail.com.

*Ignite is a style of presentation inspired by Pecha Kucha where: Participants have 5-10 minutes to speak on a subject. They can be accompanied by 10-20 slides. The presentation is followed by Q&A with the audience.
