Community Media Training: Audio Production

9-3pm
Friday, October 23rd
Madison, WI
Registration fee: $45

Join Forward! News Network for a dynamic training that will teach you everything you need to know to amplify the voices of your community and union through producing high-quality audio newscasts.

Have you ever talked to a co-worker or fellow activist and wished you could capture their story for more people to hear?

Have you organized an event and wanted to broaden the impact of your message to more people?

Audio production is one the easiest ways to capture the stories that matter most to your community, workplace or union. If you are interested in acquiring the skills necessary to produce high-quality audio newscasts to share your stories with the broader public, then please join us for an exciting day!

Participants will learn the basics of news-gathering, interviewing, audio recording/ editing and the newest trends shaping the media world. By the end of the day, participants will have created an audio newscast ready to share with your friends, family and co-workers.

Our trainers include Norm Stockwell from Madison's community radio station WORT 89.9fm; Jesse Russell from Workers Independent News; and, Taylour Johnson with the Forward! News Network.

Please email forwa...@laborradio.org for a registration form. Registration deadline is October 16th. Questions? Call 608-215-0327.

----
Forward! News Network places working people and activists at the center of community journalism, providing them the tools and technical support to produce high-quality, independent, community-centered news: the kind of news ignore by corporate media.

Forward! News Network works with participants after the workshop to produce & distribute audio newscasts across Wisconsin. By attending the training you join our statewide network of community journalists and will have access to our on-going webinars and conference calls that cover a variety of topics aimed at honing journalism skills, educating on important political and economic issues from the leading experts and exploring new trends shaping the media that we can use to maximize the impact of our news.

Audacity is a great open source audio editor, and a great way to get started with learning about audio editing and waveforms.

(I hope someday it can replace Apple's Logic for me.)
