jayaraj

Please see the instructions from Navneethan regarding the operation of instruments after long shutdown.
I had forwarded the mail from Navneethan LSS before also. regarding the special care you have to take care.
Please strictly follow the procedure.

Dear Mr.Navneethan,

We had followed the procedure. I was back in office in April 27. The students ( few)who are staying the campus was visiting the lab since first week of May.  Raman was up in Mid of may. The present situation might have occured since the heavy rain started. We have put two dehumidifiers and Raman is installed in a small room and the temperature is 22. and when it starts operation it comes close to 23.
How ever i have warned the students to take special care and strictly follow the procedure

Dear Sir,

We hope you are all doing well.

All are now ready to go back to our labs.

So we want to give you the following advice.

Please follow it as strictly as possible.

1) For Laser Labs :

Switch on the AC only and leave it for may be two days.

This depends upon the size of the lab. Bigger labs more time. Also if you have dehumidifier please run along with AC.

Try to monitor the temp and the AC itself as the AC may get damaged or catch fire.

2) After 2 or 3 days make sure first all the instruments are off. Please check it.

Then switch on only the UPS. Allow the UPS to charge for half day.

Do not turn on any instrument.

After half day or one day you are ready to turn on the power of each unit one by one.

Watch for any abnormal behavior or smell from the power supply or anywhere else.

This is important.

3) All other labs who don't have any lasers only Spectrometers etc.. may also do the same procedure.

Only difference may be you don't have to wait for 2 or 3 days after turning on the AC .

4) We have waited for nearly 2 months. So waiting one or 2 days more will not make any difference. So please take time to switch on your instruments. If you need any more details or clarifications in this regard, please do contact us.

Good luck.

Regards,

Morrison
