Not anymore.
I have five or six people that I can introduce you to who have
been turned down outright between 2008 - 2011 (Dec). Three
managed to find family members to assist and the others are
simply doing without. I don't know how, I don't want to know.
No, ODSP doesn't cover them.
The region is where you go and generally, their answer is NO.
I have been told they are only allotted so much, and their
priority is OW for work purposes only and even they get only
half ... and where the heck they get the other half is crazy.
I remember before the cannibalized the employment
supports
program for ODSP, they added denture work in it - now none
of this stuff is included anymore (2002 - 2006).
Maybe you got them in early April before they ran out of
money by about mid-May it seems? Maybe at a time there
was less demand from the OW people or in 2006 under
employment supports, because I know some who got it that way.
In my view, they should cover the whole thing, a basic not
a Cadillac package for those that need it.
I am sure if we had a denturist school in the region, they might
offer a program of sorts that people can get coverage for.
In some regions, they cover all of it up to basic package.
I tried for a
specialized orthotic prescribed to me by a
specialist I also had to pay out of pocket for ... it would
cost me $1,200 to get, as it's very customized and sorted
for my unusual problem in my left ankle to avoid falls ...
their answer again was NO. So my health benefit package
is called Knock on Wood and pray I don't fall. I did about
a month ago and cracked my kneecap and it is bruised all
the way down my leg.
I wish I can win a lottery or something, so I can get out
of here, and more importantly start living and enjoying
a healthier life.
