A relative of mine's doctor has retired last month. She went to a walk
in clinic to have them check her high blood pressure medication. The
doctor told her it was no good as it is not working for her right. He
told her to get rid of it and prescribed a new kind of high blood
pressure that has something inside for anxiety. She suffers anxiety
almost every day and her blood pressure gets high. The doctor told her
to get a monitor to check every day at her home. He gave her a toll
free number to call this place where you can get a free high blood
pressure monitor for nothing. He said it costs $100 or more for the
monitor. She did call them and will be getting hers in the mail. Does
anyone know about that? By the way this relative is not on ODSP or OW
and was never ever on it.

How come our doctors didn't tell us that we can get them for free by
calling this toll free number and get them send in the mail to us?

because letting US know about the free services that are available is never seen as beneficial.

it IS in the directives that anyone on ODSP automatically qualifies for the monitor as per ADP needs anyways.  its all about being able  to get one from the right vendor and having them file the proper paperwork with the govt.

I just found out the prescription my relative got was a ACE inhibitor
and you only get a free BP monitor free if you are taking this drug
when the doctor tells you about it.
