Has anybody done the second careers program while on ODSP?

What was your experience like? Did you get to take courses you wanted
to take or ones that second careers chose for you?

Anything I should know?

I'm starting the second career process with a local employment service
provider who specifically work with people on ODSP.

I was not accepted on the program even though I am on ODSP .. whats the criteria.. ?

Pretty sure a requirment is that you have worked within the last 4
years.

Luckily I was working up until 2007.

They didn't tell you why you weren't accepted?

It is JVS (Jewish Vocational Services) http://www.jvstoronto.org/

I lve in York Reigon and the JVS center I have been attending is in
Markham.

Check their website out, they may have a location near you.

But I can access it in Ottawa through Employment Ontario.

But many still say they did the program and cannot find a job. There
are no guarantees anymore, no matter what you do. Get an education
and go into debt for it, even a Master's, and you may find yourself in
retail at $10.25 an hour.

No easy answers in life.
