Hi Group I recently noticed a post that made a statement about adult
recipients of ODSP acquiring funds for a winter clothing allowance. I
have tried to follow all of the subsequent posts and I did not notice
any response to this inquiry. Has anyone had an experience where they
- as an adult, have been able to receive an allowance towards winter
clothing? Or know of any area within the directives that might be
examined towards this gain? I can say that a few years ago my common
law husband received the clothing allowance in order to enable him to
keep a volunteer position with the SA Christmas Drive, (through OW I'll
add) and that the funds were not considered to be under employment
start up or supports. I suppose it's hit and miss, depending upon who
you are dealing with often. It would be helpful to many folks if we
could determine this with certainty as I've read that some participants
have not been able to freshen their coats in years, and some are also
wearing unsuitable footwear for winter weather. I am hoping we can
make a
co-ordinated effort to resolve this so those in need can benefit.

and beg and plead and you still won't get anything

Do you think if I tell them that I need boots and a winter coat to get
to work, they'll cover it under employment supports? It gets COLD out
there! If I freeze my butt off and get pneumonia, how will I make it to
work?
