Hi all,

Just finnished the application process through Niagara Regional
Housing for low income housing, approved. Not trying to be fussy, but
will need money to pay for moving expenses when a low-income apt is
found.

Do the folks at ODSP allow for monies outside the monthly amount for
moving? Been here for ten+ years and have not a clue about this area.
Can someone tell me if there is moving cost help available?

Many Thanks,

Scott

Yes, Scott ...
It is called Community Start Up and Maintenance
Benefit (CSUMB).  If you are single, you can get
up to $799 to move; if a family, $1500, but this
is conditional upon you not getting CSUMB in the
past 24 calendar months.  I don't know about you,
but it cost me and my family almost $5,000 to
move from my townhouse in a co-op to the new
house we bought in 2004.

Also,if you think you are going to get into
affordable housing right away in Niagara, expect
to wait 6 to 8 years if you are a family, possibly
longer as a single, unless you are over 55 years
of age, then you can get a senior's apt in 2 - 3 yrs.
