Here is the response I got from Kathleen Wynne or her reps in regards to my email about the suggestion of merging ODSP with OW:
--"Thanks for taking the time to send your correspondence to me regarding social assistance. I value your input, and appreciate receiving your insight. I’ve also noted your concerns about distinguishing between disability benefit recipients and Ontario Works recipients.
We understand that being fiscally responsible is fundamental to our future, and that a fair and inclusive society is the foundation of a more prosperous Ontario. These are the principles that will guide us as we work on your behalf. Complex times require thoughtful, collaborative solutions, and that is why I have asked government officials to take the Commission for the Review of Social Assistance in Ontario’s recommendations under consideration. In the meantime our government will work to enable social assistance recipients to keep more of what they earn through their hard work, to help ease the challenging path they must navigate.
Our government believes that, to climb to great heights, everyone must have the same firm footing. Helping people now means helping ourselves immeasurably in the future, because the services we provide are meant to allow people to work, prosper and contribute to our province.
Thank you again for raising this matter with me. Please accept my best wishes."

I responded by saying that helping ourselves for the future is what we do every second of every day. We don't get holidays or weekends or to relax after 5pm. We suffer ongoing. This is what is lost to people who do not struggle daily. I also added that if they have money to build a Casino, they have money to INCREASE ODSP and OW.
I pointed out to look at the problems stemming from the UK transition--how homelessness has increased as well as suicide rates and violence. I then suggested she look at finland, who has NO homelessness because it is against the law there--they find homes for everyone and their country is not in a deficit. I ended it by stating that the reason the province is in a deficit is because those in government mismanaged the money. That is not our fault. Will see what they say.

I've learned to ignore everything the Gov. promotes or talks about,
as it is jujst a bunch of make up to look pretty.
