Did they owe you any money, retroactive shortage, etc? I received a
deposit of $500 and at that time was calling CCAC and the Occupational
Therapist to find out where to submit the receipts for the bed and
sofa I bought (I was told by the hospital social worker these would be
provided; then it changed to I had to buy them myself (so needed
someone with a car to go look at them) and I would be reimbursed). I
bought the cheapest mattress set which was also on sale ($567) at
Mattress Mart and the cheapest sofa (with tax and $40 delivery $999)
Sofa World - so for an expenditure buying the cheapest was almost
$1600. One person asked 'did you not get a deposit of $500? I replied
yes, but did not know what it was for. She said 'that is your re-
imbursement' I asked 'what about the other $1,000, I borrowed that and
have to re-pay it. She said that was all ODSP allowed. Now they are
hassling me about the Occupational therapist putting in for a bath
bench, hand grip on the bath side, and a shower head.
ODSP is always looking for a way to gyp you out of something that you
need.
Sorry about my rant here - back to your $45.14. Call ODSP and ask
them, if they say she were shortchanged at some point and it is a make-
up payment, try and get that in writing. It would not surprise me in
the least (they have done this to me) that in months in the future
they will come back and say you got this money and were not entitled
to it and so you have to pay a penalty because you kept it. Lucky I
had a letter and faxed it to them with the comment 'I do not work
there and I was told this was a make-up payment. Since I do not work
there I have no way to verify if your worker was correct. Here is the
letter I received."
Good luck
