I have 1 Hotmail account and 2 Gmail accounts. For a long time now I have used my Hotmail address within the Gmail app to send and receive emails to and from Hotmail address. Now I have been told via email to said address that I can no longer use my Hotmail address to "send" emails only to "receive" emails. I have spent on and off the last 3 weeks on Google to try and find answers. I have been on Google's forum but I have not had any answers. And to be perfectly honest I want to close my hotmail.account. I sign into Microsoft to delete account and it requires verification. Trouble is my phone number that was initially set up I no longer have and cannot change it without that verification code. I have Microsoft Authenticator app and cannot use the codes that have been generated by them. I have registered my Gmail account with Microsoft with new phone number but am at a loss as to what I should do.
First off I installed Microsoft Authenticator app. Signed in, but it required verification of my identity. Options were... "Approve request on Authenticator app or use a verification code from mobile app". Or " I have a code" or " Show more verification methods" If I chose that method it the shows ******* and the last 2 digits of my mobile number. Unfortunately the mobile number is my old mobile number and I cannot update to my new mobile number until I can verify my identity ? Then there is a option " Don't have any of these"chose that option and it gives a link to update my security information. Went to that link, signed in and took to "Verify your identity"
All I want to do is update my mobile number and then tbh I want to remove my Hotmail account as I'm totally fed up trying to fix this. I have set up my Gmail account on Microsoft and have all the correct details. If there is a way for me to change my mobile number on my Hotmail account, if I then remove said Hotmail account will all my information still be available when I sign into Microsoft via my Gmail account?
I've just about had it with this issue. It happened for several weeks about a year ago, the year before that and then recently, for the last 3 weeks. Almost daily mac mail app / iPhone says I need to input my hotmail password as well as my saying my Microsoft Teams password is incorrect. So I change them. Then it says I've tried too many times today - to try again tomorrow.
I know neither wants to spend money on this issue (Outlook / Apple) but frankly, if Apple want us to continue using their products which, after buying Office 365 you are supposed to be able to use for business (mostly Microsoft based) then I think it's Apple's issue. I've approached an IT guy about it and he says that's why he doesn't use Apple (most don't).
Have had the same issue for years and I've found that the fix is to delete your account and reinstall like normal, but under Outlook.com option. If that's what you're already using then reinstall under Microsoft Exchange option. I've been going back and forth between those two options for like seven years. Couldn't tell you why any of this happens, but this has always fixed it. Good luck
This is the answer. Kind of. Hotmail was working on my iPhone and MacBook, but when I got a new iMAC, it kept asking me for my password. I initially must have set up the account using the ADD OTHER ACCOUNT option. I should have selected MICROSOFT EXCHANGE. I deleted it and added it back using MICROSOFT EXCHANGE as the account option and is working well now. Thank you TayvinG
It's working again. I logged out and back in on my browser, but I never received an option to agree to the user agreement. I deleted the account (second time) from my iPad and then added a new account. First using exchange but that did not work, then as an outlook account and now all is working fine.
Complete mess! my hotmail has been discontinued due to in activity and is also the sign in for an old DB account. in order to try and reset pw DB sends a code to my defunct hotmail account, which I'm unable to retrieve.. in the meantime DB keeps charging the annual fees.

Without access to the email address there's no way to gain access to the account. If you want to keep the account, your best option is to work with Microsoft to see if they can reactivate your email address.
Visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
Worse case scenario if your Dropbox account couldn't be retrieved and you needed to cancel the subscription, you can always contact your bank to block your credit card or request to put a stop payment from Dropbox. In the meantime, you can always submit a ticket on how to recover your Dropbox account by changing it to an active email address provided that our support team has already confirmed that you are the owner of the account. Either they will just send you a One Time Password in lieu of the code that you should be receiving from your Hotmail account. Once you are able to enter the OTP and log in successfully to your account, you are then advised to change your email address to an active one. You can click on this link to start submitting your ticket: -issues and just choose either Can't access email or lost email access.
Anyone else today suffering a Hotmail password request which is then not accepted and requested again (despite being correct). Google search suggests others are experiencing similar. No problem with Outlook.com sign in.
Yes, as I said you can no longer use passwords with Microsoft hosted accounts. Please see the link I gave above which has instructions on setting up the account correctly. It will use oAuth instead of username/password logins.
That is not using the IMAP login. Logging into their web interface is something completely different. There you need to use the username and password. But for applications, they no longer accept that type of login. Please follow the instructions in the link I gave above.
I have multiple accounts on hotmail.com, live.com and outlook.com.
When I set up app passwords, it only works for 3 accounts.
Is there a limit to how many app passwords you can set up (on em client, PC, etc.)??
I have two MS Exchange email accounts that just today stopped accepting my password thru eM. I created a new app password for both, but no luck on either. I see reference to oAuth, and am wondering if this might be cause. Suggestions?
My 92 year old father has a (free) hotmail account. The only email device he has is Windows PC. When I look at the login activity I see his IMAP sync but also see a successful sync from IP 13.101.84.203 and 13.101.86.13 multiple times a day.
Even after changing the password (using my pc), setting up 2FA and choosing log out all logged in devices (which MS has a big disclaimer for that says it wont log out some devices like Xbox and can take 24 hours) the 13.101 IPs are still syncing.
yes, those all sound exactly like what im seeing. I actually googled that IP originally but had no results since those IPs are sightly different. You would think MS would have been a little more forthcoming in their reply (not!). have wasted hours over the last week with this.
Do you need help accessing your hotmail login account? You're in the right place! In this article, we'll guide you through the simple steps to sign in to your Hotmail account securely. We'll also cover how to reset your password, troubleshoot common issues, and provide tips to keep your account secure.
Before we dive in, let's take a brief look at what Hotmail is. Hotmail was one of the first free web-based email services, launched in 1996. It was later acquired by Microsoft and rebranded as Outlook.com in 2012. However, many users still access their accounts through the Hotmail login portal.
Accessing your Hotmail login account is a breeze! By following these simple steps, you can sign in securely and troubleshoot common issues. Remember to enable two-factor authentication and use a strong password to keep your account secure.
If you've changed your primary email address and are no longer using Hotmail, you may be thinking of permanently deleting a hotmail.com email address. In this article, we provide an easy-to-follow instruction that will help you along the way.
Hotmail.com email addresses are owned by Microsoft, so your Hotmail account is a part of your Microsoft account. This means that to delete a Hotmail.com email address, you'll have to delete your Microsoft 365 account that is associated with this address.
After you request to close your account, Microsoft will not delete it right away. Your account will be deactivated first and you will have 30 or 60 days (depending on your choice) to re-open it in case you change your mind. This helps prevent fraudulent activity and protect your account.
We recommend saving old emails into another online account because this will make your Hotmail archive easily accessible. Keeping an archive of your old email online is also safer than storing it on a hard drive.
