Odia Pua, a Delhi Based Odia Newspaper as well as Socio Cultural
Organisation to make people aware of Odisha’s ancient tradition, is
going to celebrate 13th Boita Bandan Utshav (a Festival to commemorate
traditional maritime voyage by ancient Traders of Odisha) on 25th
November, 2015 at Kamala Nehru Auditorium, inside the Kamla Nehru
College, University of Delhi, New Delhi
(at 10.30AM to 2 PM). The Festival brings alive the saga of Odisha’s
maritime trade between 400 B.C. to 600 A.D., For the last decade Odia
Pua on this occasion has been attracting to its functions a large number
of people from different states who have interest to learn about the
ancient socio, cultural and economic traditions of the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that ancient Odisha’s maritime trade
was expanded to countries like China, Italy, Burma, Malaya, Siam,
Sumatra, Java, Bali, Borneo and Ceylon. The Programme also showcases
traditional Dance Drama which used to mark the occasion when the Odia
Merchants used to start their sea journey on the full-moon day of the
auspicious Kartik month.
This year we are planning to showcase the culture exchange programme between Odisha and Gujarat.
