I am using Ode to rig a simple tank. I have the main body with a
bounding box, and the turret without a bounding box sits on top of the
main body just fine. But when I add a bounding box around my turret,
I don't see it, maybe it just flies off I don't know, but internal
collision on that space is turned off. If I place the turret higher
up (Y axis), I will see the turret lay on the main body side ways as
if it fell over, and the collision shape for the turret stays behind
as I move the tank around.

Does the shape for the turret have to be joined because I'm not doing
that, I don't think I can because the base of the turret is actually a
little bit down inside of the main body.

If I do need to join the two shapes, how if the base of the turret is
inside the main body?

First: using ODE terms accurately will help significanlty for others to help
you. E.g., "Shape" does not a meaning with regard to ODE. However, "Body"
does a specific meaning. You mention a "main body with a bounding box." Do
you mean an ODE body with a box geom? Is the turret a graphics object or an
ODE Trimesh or..?

Perhaps it would help if you can start with a simple description of what
geoms and bodies you've created and how you've joined them.
