Give your two cents about the pros and cons between printed and web
comics.

Hi, Metasearch is good work! Web comics bring the medium to everyman,
i can sit at my computer and create and publish my own work, contact
other artists through forums such as this, there are no limits to the
diversity of work that's possible.. it's a genre revolution.
Check out my comic 'Chains' on Clickwheel.

Thank you. Yes, the amount of different styles and stories that one
can find in web comics is incredible. Also, an artist can experiment
and evolve without the pressures and constrains of the printed media.
Don’t get me wrong, I love traditional comics, and I would still love
to see Metasearch printed one day, but I think the web is allowing a
great influx of creativity to the medium that otherwise would not have
been possible. I also get a personal kick out of seeing my novel being
read by people from different countries.

By the way, I checked out your comic, very poetic! I like the whole
black and white treatment. It’s very cool that you have an ipod
version of it.

Cheers! The great thing about forums like this, is that we can get
feedback for our work,
which - be it positive or negative, is a constructive thing and not
just ego stroking.
Friends have said that Chains is a bit vague in the panels, and that
they were not clear
as to what was happening, so i may tweak it a little to make it
clearer, but i don't want to
spell it out for the reader too much as i like the idea that they can
interpret it however
they want to. I'd like to have had less dialogue really.

Are you going to put Metasearch on as a pdf?
Do you have a whole story thought out before you start to write a
comic?
I always start with a opening page, then i find the ending, and the
middle kind of writes itself.

I hope Clickwheel really takes off, and as more people contribute
their comics,
i hope we'll see some really fresh and unique work appearing.
Tim Demeter, editor of Clickwheel, really helped me out and put my
stuff onto the site, Thanks Tim.

It’s nice to hear from you again. About Chains, I like the fact that
the story is not spelled out and it’s up to the reader to interpret
what’s going on.

Right now Metasearch is on pdf at Clickwheel, but what I really want
to is to make it into a push comic and publish it through them. Since
you have done the ipod thing, do you have any suggestions?

Usually by the time I start my breakdowns, I have the story all
scripted out. I spend a lot of time in the concept stage and when it
finally crystallizes in my head I write it down and start the whole
process. I generally start with a concept, then a story idea, then
characters, then their world, and finally a plot. Plot-wise, if I know
the end of the story then the whole book writes itself, but more often
than not I have a great beginning, I struggle for a great ending and I
never sweat the middle.

I do hope Clickwheel takes off; it is a great idea. Tim Demeter is a
good guy. He was very patient and helpful with some initial issues I
had.

By the way, if you know of anyone that might enjoy this forum feel
free to invite them. Take care.

Hi, i've just put Chains on Clickwheel as an m4v ipod movie, which was
pretty easy using imovie on the mac. If your using a mac, try it for
Metasearch.

I was never much for printed comics other than the Sunday funny pages.
Marvel was a rather alien concept to me until I moved to the States.
That being the case, I've had far more experience with web comics.
Printed comics are nice in that they don't require wireless to take
anywhere, and there's something nice about being able to hold it in
one's hands. I greatly enjoy web comics, though, because they allow
for a much wider range of media than printed comics.

Hi Chiomi,
my experience is the opposite in that i've always known printed
comics, but they were always by established artists and writers,
published by big names like Marvel and DC.
Web comics can be created by anyone with the desire to tell their
stories, independent and individual.
