PowerPivot not able to access root URI, but can access by entity set

Hello All,

I have created a Dynamic Producer (running under Tomcat) and can access the root URI from a browser with no issues, e.g. http://localhost/servlet/odata/odata.svc/

However when I try the same URI from PowerPivot I get a HTTP 500. 

PowerPivot works fine if I access a collection directly, like http://localhost/servlet/odata/odata.svc/myEntitySet

2 questions:

1. Am I missing something obvious in the interaction with PowerPivot? 

2. Is there a way to get some better debug information on the server side?
