"A lot of people when they get older and they realize they can’t do something as well as they could when they were younger, then they just don’t do it.
I don’t want to live my life that way".
Seana Hogan, 6 Time Race Across America Winner
Let’s go up and see the Queen Mary this Saturday. The Weather should continue to be spring like with temps of 49 to 66 in Long Beach according to
https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USCA0632:1:US
and 11% chance of rain.
This Long Beach Century will allow us to stretch our legs before the upcoming tougher Double Centuries and Climbing Centuries in the next few months.
Let me know if you are coming by replying to me at cbr...@caltriplecrown.com. If there isn't enough interest in this ride, I may cancel it by announcing the cancellation on this e-mail list on Friday.
The Route Slip for the Queen Mary Century for this coming Saturday is attached and printed copies will be available at the start of the ride.
Thank you to Larry Locken for creating the RWGPS for this Century at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53774645
Last weekend, I drove down Laguna Canyon Road and found:
2 - Going back up Laguna Canyon Road from Laguna Beach to Irvine, I was very pleasantly surprised that not only was there new pavement through the previous half mile construction zone but there was a new bike lane painted on a wider shoulder!! This looks totally rideable and safe.
This Century can be shortened to about 75 miles by turning left at Bayside at 68.9 and coming back on Backbay Drive.
This ride will start at “The Square” in Irvine at Main and MacArthur at 7:30 A.M. sharp so you should arrive by 7:15 A.M. Main and MacArthur is near the intersection of the San Diego Freeway (405) and the Newport (55) Freeway. Take the MacArthur Blvd. exit from the San Diego (405) Freeway and turn North ... Main Street is the first street Northeast of the 405 Freeway. We'll meet in the Parking Lot behind the Starbucks.
Ride safe,
Chuck Bramwell

Chuck — it pains me to admit it, but Bruce actually landed one this time.
After my Gold Lines™ Platinum Series, 5-Star, 99-Point Efficiency, Dual-Compartment, Counter-Depth, Triple-Ice-Maker Refrigerator was ceremonially delivered (complete with red carpet and champagne spritz), I’ve had to re-evaluate my life choices.
This delivery, of course, occurred while I was in Hawaii on an exclusive 7-day cycling extravaganza led by Team Ineos, featuring 30,000 feet of elevation gain and 700+ miles of ‘active recovery.’
My budget now allows for exactly one premium Classic Big Wheel™ with chrome tassels and aerodynamic training flags.
See you Saturday!
