79 Miles with 3,400 Feet of Climbing

98 Miles with 4,300 Feet of Climbing

106 Miles with 4,900 Feet of Climbing

It’s been way too long since we’ve ridden a Saturday Century so how about one next Saturday?  This will be a good way to burn off some of those Thanksgiving calories coming your way on Thursday.  😊

 

It would be great to ride the Oceanside to Palomar Century on Saturday but the forecast is for a High of only 40 Degrees at Palomar so that’s too cold for me.

 

Be sure to have your Camp Pendleton Base Pass so we can ride some Oceanside Centuries a few times in the upcoming months.  More information is at https://www.pendleton.marines.mil/Base-Access/Recreational-Bicycling/

 

Let’s go inland Saturday to see Carbon Canyon, Brea Canyon, and if we have time, Santiago Canyon. 

 

Dallas Raines is forecasting a 20% chance of rain for Saturday for his friends in Chino Hills with nice temps of 38 - 56 at

This route has lots of bail out options if you need to get home to mow the lawn.  The 79 Mile option is a really good ride in and of itself with a great climb up Carbon Canyon.  If you really want to challenge yourself, go for the 106 mile option and add a run up Silverado Canyon!!

 

My favorite part of the Carbon Canyon Century is flying down Brea Canyon with a good group and everyone taking strong and short pulls.  You can see the party we had on 9/28/19 at https://photos.app.goo.gl/aHubgWdZY9KcwtMT6

and printed copies will be available at the start of the ride.  This is a great training ride with plenty of climbing on the 98 and 106 mile options.

 

This route has many opportunities to turn back if a shorter distance is desired ... so come join us whether you want to ride 25, 50, 75, or 100 miles ... or anything in between.

 

This ride will start at “The Square” (formerly Foodpark) in Irvine at Main and MacArthur (TBM 859-G4/28-C3) at 7:30 A.M. sharp so you should arrive by 7:15 A.M.  Main and MacArthur is near the intersection of the San Diego Freeway (405) and the Newport (55) Freeway.  Take the MacArthur Blvd. exit from the San Diego (405) Freeway and turn North ... Main Street is the first street Northeast of the 405 Freeway.  Meet in the Parking Lot behind the Starbucks.
