Dear colleagues,
as you know, next Tuesday morning there is an occultation by the
main-belt asteroid Sylvia and its two satellites (Romulus and Remus)
that can be observed from Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. The star has
Gmag = 10, but the satellite events can last for only a fraction of a
second (0.9 and 0.5 sec, respectively), so fast exposures are needed.
Observations should be done from 08:04 to 08:09 UT.
Please find attached updated predictions, there is one general map for
South America and two maps zoomed in Brazil. The main body event will
be visible in between the green lines, the satellite events in between
the gray lines (1 sigma error bars), and the red lines are the nominal
prediction central lines.
We have guaranteed to observe sites on the main body, but very few for
the satellites, so, please join our effort to catch on of these
asteroid moons.
