Dear colleagues,

the big centaur object 1998BU48 will occult a bright star tomorrow night (30/April to 01/May). The star has visual magnitude G = 9.8 and the event may last ~13 seconds. The bad news is that its orbit is not well known, so the prediction error bar is very large.

So, if you can give it a try at this event we may have a good surprise.

More information can be found in the attached map and in this link:

Please let us know if we can be of any help, and let us know too if you do observe.

Felipe.

Dear colleagues,

this campaign had a very good repercussion and you were numerous to reply, observe and send a report. For sure the brightness of the star was the main cause of the good response, but this shows the power of our group!

For now, no one has reported a positive observation but I have no news from North America. I think that Rodrigo Leiva does have.
Rodrigo was anyone successful in the USA or Central America?

Cheers,
Felipe.
