I just got CS6, and I can't figure out where to place all of my scripts. In CS4 version, once the scripts where in the correct folder, they would show up in the the scripts list,. In CS6, I have to keep finding them. Any help would be great.

Carlos - For me, the issue isn't installing the scripts in the Script menu. It's the fact that in CS6 Illustrator doesn't remember the location of the scripts when you use Cntrl+F12 or select "Other Scripts" from the scripts menu. It reverts to the root C: drive every time I try to get to my "other scripts". This is a new behavior in CS6, as CS5 always remembered the last folder location when selecting "Other Scripts".

I need to be able to hit "Cntrl+F12" and have it remember to load the last folder I used for scripts, so I we don't have to waste a ton of time browsing to the folder location just to run a "time-saving" script.

I'm not sure we're on the same page here. Suppose my scripts are, in fact, on the C: drive, they are not just laying out there on the root directory of the C: drive. So when I use the AI native keyboard shortcut "Ctrnl F12", a dialoge box opens that shows me the root of the c drive. To find my scripts I get to start digging in to the depths of the folder heirarchy just to find the folder where the scripts are located. Next time I need to run a script...hit Cntrl F12 again...and back to the beginning...it shows me a dialogue of the root of the C:drive...and here we go again.

This is a NEW ISSUE introduced in CS6. In CS5, using the shortcut Cntrl F12 opens a dialoge box to the last folder used for scripts...every time. Now CS6 won't remember the last location no matter what.

No, that's not what I meant. I don't have CS6 installed so haven't noticed the change you mention. I generally use File>Scripts within AI to access the scripts folder. With the change to 64bit it's possible that this is related to that change.

Turns out, what actually happens is that it doesn't show the root of the "C" drive...but instead shows the root of the computer (listing all drives). At least if it took me to a specific drive I could have a shortcut there to my script folder. I checked in both the 64 bit version and the 32 bit, and both exhibit this same behavior. Huge bummer and slow-down for our efficiency. Every release Adobe manages to do something that slows us down in a major way. With CS5 it was the broken "Transform" actions that never were fixed. Haven't checked to see if those were fixed with CS6

For anyone else who may read this in the future, I was able to work around (still adds 1 extra click) by adding my "scripts" folder as a "Favorite" in the Windows Explorer browser. Now when I click Control+F12 and the dialog box opens "My Computer", I can just click on the Favorites link to the scripts folder.

I've noticed this as a problem in the past but didn't really give it much thought. But it brings up a great question. I have two solutions. If you install Illustrator to a different drive, essentially making your Preset folder location other than where Illustrator expects to find it, make a new set of folders similar to this: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2017\Presets\en_US\Scripts

Another option is to run an Add-on that can be found in called ScripshonTrees. It is a very useful tool that shows you window with all the scripts in the Preset folder, or any folder you specify. You can then double click the script in the window to run the script. Very efficient. Although it is only designed for CC, but also works for Photoshop, Premiere, After Affects and InDesign. Oh, and it's live. If you place a script in the folder it's watching, it'll show up in the window allowing you to click on it right away and use. Usually Illustrator needs to be restated to find scripts placed in the Presets folder.

I had 2 subfolders with scripts that came with adobe in them - so i just tried both and amazingly the GB one worked, even though I installed the ES (english USA version - but the one folder that worked was this one great britain one

Please not that the folder structure of your Adobe CS6 installation is displayed in your local system language in Windows Explorer, even though when you mark the adress it is in english. Also the "en_US" part changes.

After the latest update to version 28.0 (64-bit) launching Illustrator is a 2+ minute wait, the title bar says "Not Responding" once it gets going it's OK. Saving even the smallest file will take 2-5 minutes with the title bar saying "Not Responding". Twice I was drawing a line or selecting items resulting in "not responding".

when I launch, Illustrator shows at the top of my memory usage around 800+ MB, with MS Teams second at 750+MB, total memory usage stays around 76%. Once Illustrator settled to the point that I can move the window and do anything it stays at these numbers. CPU stayed around 15% Network and GPU was 0-1%

I'm going to have to check with my overprotective IT department to see if it's OK to have Adobe log into my machine. I'm betting they say no and will want to handle this themselves (meaning it's not going to get fixed! LOL)

If you haven't done that already try and uninstall and then run the Adobe Cleaner tool to get rid of everything that Adobe installed on your machine and then install again. -cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

This will only fix Adobe-related install/uninstall issues. If this is something else on your machine then your IT department needs to help figure it out. Processes running in the background are what I would search for first.

All you have to do to replicate the bug is to hit alt (don't even need to hold it) and assuming you're on a high refresh rate monitor you will instantly feel input lag and see the cursor moving at what appears to be 30fps or less, until you left click with mouse, then it will go back to normal. When you hit ALT there should be no difference in the rendering of the mouse cursor. It should feel and look just as smooth as before you hit ALT.

While this isn't a program breaking bug it's still annoying nonetheless. When you're used to moving the mouse at a certain speed and you hit alt to duplicate or whatever you want to do the mouse instantly feels off/slow and it really breaks down the smoothness of the program to me since ALT is a very critical hotkey.

This happens on newest version 28 and has happened on every version of illustrator as far back as I can remember over 8 years. Win 11 64 bit fully updated but again happened on Win 10 64 bit also. This is NOT an operating system specific issue. This is a bug within the Adobe Illustrator engine.

For anyone on google searching about this issue. I figured out what was causing it. It's a bug that's been around since before 2010. It's a Windows/Adobe bug AFAIK. Hitting ALT highlights the menu in all programs. This is an old way of navigating through menu's without using a mouse. You can sort of turn this off in Windows 11 under Accessibility/keyboard/underline access keys but this doesn't fix the issue in Adobe programs. Again Adobe is bypassing that setting for some reason. NO ONE is using

Thanks for the reply. I will send everything you asked for, but again this has been going on for a long time and if you just google "laggy cursor alt" you will see many others with same issue. I know you have to go through these steps though in order to figure it out.

By looking up some old youtube videos (6 years old btw lol). I've seen the only fix was disabling GPU Performance. This is a bandaid and not a fix as I love using the GPU Performance and some of the settings that go along with it. So the ALT cursor bug lies somewhere there in the GPU Performance.

The issue is for some reason when these menu's are selected within photoshop it triggers a lower framerate of the mouse and thus the bug this post is about, it also causes issues with other tools and Adobe programs. The only way to disable it is with an auto hotkey script or a script that runs preventing it from happening. As far as I can tell there is an issue that Adobe programs have where they can't tell the difference between physical keys being hit and virtual ones, but I don't know the specifics.

The fix was found in this video here. I downloaded the exe he links in the video description because I didn't want to run or mess with AutoHotKey at all. It fixed my issue described in my OP 100%. I still think there is a way for Adobe to patch this or allow for an option within the menu to disable that ease of access ALT button if you want. For years people were having this issue in Photoshop as well and someone else created a program to fix it also. It was called APsisstant and it did the same thing the program I linked above does but was taken down for some reason a while back so people just reverted to using AutoHotKey to trick Adobe into thinking the ALT key wasn't pressed.

I'm having trouble running Illustrator CC. After downloading it from Creative Cloud, it launches properly (I see the splash screen), and then after about a second or two, it crashes ("Adobe Illustrator CC has stopped working..."). No other Adobe products have this issue - Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, etc. all run fine, it's only Illustrator. It happens when I run the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I thought maybe the installation was corrupted so I uninstalled Illustrator, restarted the computer a few times, and then reinstalled, but I'm still running into this. I've also tried signing in and out of Creative Cloud, per other help threads I've found.
