Dads –

I hope you enjoyed the fourth of July holiday as much as I did – most
of my paintball bruises are fading and only my skinned knee has yet to
completely heal. The last event is has hardly ended, and it’s already
time to start planning the new trailblazer calendar for the 2009/10.

To get this new calendar on paper and solicit volunteers, l would like
to get the dads together before the end of July. We are losing some
key dads who’ve done a lot of planning work in the past– so we need
new blood to step forwards to help out. Every dad should directly
help with at least one event each. We already have a great suggestion
from Peter and Greg for a great Catalina trip.

Let’s meet Wednesday July 29 at 7 PM at Yahoo’s Fish Tacos in South
Coast Plaza (the Old Crystal Court west side of Bear Ave) - come
earlier if you want to grab some food beforehand. If you can’t make
it, please email me your ideas for events and let me know which you
would like to take the lead. I can be emailed directly at
ACam...@ieua.org.

I hope to see you there.

Andy

Trailblazers,

One of the ideas for an outing is attending the Miramar Airshow coming up on Oct.2,3&4. We are looking for any ex-military members with contacts that can help make this a memorable experience for all the boys and there dads. If you can help with this please contact me and Andy.

Thanks,
Greg Nay

High G jet fighter rides with strafing runs would add a lot to this!!!

Dads,

I'm looking for a Trailblazer dad who is active or retired from the Marines or Navy probably officers rank or has a relative or close friend that is. I'm trying to get us set up for the Miramar Airshow Oct.3 or 4Th and I believe there are things offered to Military that can add a lot to the experience. I know at the old El Toro show you could camp on base for the event and other things like sit in a jet fighter or better pavilion seating or meet the Blue Angels and other perks. I don't know if they still have things like this but it would nice to find out. If you can help let me know.

Thanks,
Greg Nay

Andy,
Any ex-military from any branch of the service can help us get discounted pricing for any of the upgraded seating. So any retired or reservist give me your info.
I need to get an approximate count for those interested in attending the Miramar Airshow either Oct. 3 or the 4Th. I'm also trying to see about beach camping down there to make it a complete weekend thing for those interested. So if we could get a good response from the dads interested in this it would help. I don't know of a single boy in our group who would not like to see the Blue Angels fly. The Air show is free but seating is paid for in the stands. And they do have chalet seating available with barbecue and drinks included. So please respond if you think you can make it let me know.
Also this would be a good one for the guides to help get numbers up if needed.

Thanks,
Greg Nay

I'm in for 3 (two boys) for a Sunday. I can't make a whole weekend or Saturday day (maybe night)-as I'm coaching soccer.
Once we have a day set I'll invite some older yguides.

Hi Greg,

Count me in for two for the air show (my son, Peter, and I). I MAY have a lead on a military person, but will have to chase him down. I will update as soon as I have something.

Thanks,
Howard

Andy,

If you are still looking for headcount interested in the beach camping, please include my son Peter and I.

It seems that we can get the Military discount tickets through Peter's step-dad:

http://www.miramarairshow.com/tickets.html#mil

However, I think someone mentioned that they were still looking for something "special" at the base. I don't think we can accommodate that, but please let us know if the discount tickets are still needed.

Thanks,
Howard

Are Colin and you able to attend Oct.4 airshow? I have attendance conflicts with those that want to attend. Also does not look like overnight camp will be available. I have not been able to get info. back about this from base personnel.

Trailblazers,
Miramar Airshow is fast approaching and you don't want to miss this. Blue Angels and Canadian Snowbirds are headliners. If you or your son has never been to a major military airshow you have been missing out on one of the best entertainment days you can spend. You get to watch your government spend millions of dollars on something you at least know where the money went. Over the years I have been to at least a dozen shows when they held them at El Toro and never left without feeling awe at what I saw performed there. And doubly so for young boys.So try and pencil this one in with the group. And don't blame me if your son wants to be a fighter jock after this. This is a all day event to see everything.

For attendance at Miramar Airshow I have,

Howard and Peter Choi
Shannon and Colin Squyres
Andy Campbell and 2
Greg and Parker Nay

Please respond asap if you are interested in going. http://www.miramarairshow.com/tickets.html
This is the ticket info. on their site. Attending on Sunday Oct.4 looks like best date going with either the Semper Fi Chalet or Flight Deck Package matinee show about $20 per ticket cost difference. I would like feedback about preference on this. Also I have been unable to get any response from base personnel in regards to camping. So it looks like show only.
