Hi,

I have just released a new version of Octave UPM. This release, R8.2, is the first one to be working in Windows 8.

There are some other minimal changes:

 - Improvements with brace matching highlights in the editor
 - Better and richer syntax highlighting in the editor
 - The graphics editor can now edit plots with legends

The plot editor with legends is still experimental, and may fail with some plots.

There are packages for Windows:

Install the package, and if it does not work after installation, install the additional libraries: http://forja.rediris.es/frs/download.php/2664/vcredist_x86.exe

After that, Octave UPM should be working fine.
If you have a previous release installed, don't be afraid to uninstall it, your files and your settings won't be lost.

I have also uploaded packages for Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04: https://launchpad.net/~herraiz/+archive/octave-upm/
If you don't have yet the repository in your system, just execute "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:herraiz/octave-upm"
These Ubuntu packages are known to be working in Debian too.

For Archlinux, I have also updated the package in the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/octave-upm/

Cheers,
Israel

This is great Israel! Thanks!
Just in time for the next academic year's installations here :)
I have tested the Ubuntu version in my i386 Debian stable (wheezy) and it works.
Only a minor issue, not sure if it's already known or not: I cannot change between languages: no matter if I select Spanish or English, the GUI is always in English.
Tomorrow I'll test the installation in an amd64 Debian stable (wheezy) machine and if it fails because of dependencies ( https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/octave-upm/TlEh9EEVxEU ), I'll try to provide a Debian package (.deb) as soon as possible.

Thanks for reporting. I will have a look into that :).

I think it should work ok, the biggest problem is the version of
Octave available in the system, and wheezy seems to have Octave 3.6.2,
which should work fine.

Thanks!

As with former release, there is a problem of dependencies, so people using Debian Wheezy amd64 cannot just install the Ubuntu package.
I have built a package for this architecture, attached you can find the .deb
Israel, would it be possible to upload it to forja.rediris.es with the Windows .exe? If not, I may host it in swlibre.etsia.upm.es
Later I will send a patch to the Debian instructions webpage linking the URL where it is.

BTW, with this binary, I didn't see the problem of the language: everything works well.

Thanks!

I think I will try to setup a Debian repo in the main page to host
this package.

I see that the name of the package includes "raring". Should it not be
"wheezy" instead? Why don't we try to nominate the package to be
included in Debian, so we (you) don't have to this work with every new
release?

Cheers,
Israel

Hi Israel

I am looking for help in installing the jplv7.zip package in your version of octave. I am trying to use the Johansen test that is within that package. I have tried to unzip the file and place all the individual files in C:\Octave\Octave-UPM-R8.2\share\octave\packages then run a 'pkg install coint' command. it doesn't seem to find the file or the packages.

Your help would be greatly appreciated
