Don't get mad; get more information

It's hard not to imagine the worst possible scenario when your child's teacher calls and says "Your child is uncooperative" or "She damaged school property." But before you get angry with your child or the teacher, ask for more information. You may find that the situation is not as serious as you assumed. When you know the specifics, it's easier to work with the teacher to solve the problem.

'Circular stories' inspire creativity and pass it on

Telling "circular stories" is a fun way to get your child's
creativity flowing. Gather family members around the table and start a made-up

Ask him to imagine what you'll do there.

Put some education into summer vacation

The learning activities you do at home with your teen are critical to her success in school. Yet few parents ask teachers for help with this. Be one of the few. Before school lets out for the summer, contact at least one of your teen's teachers. Ask for five specific suggestions for things you can do with your teen to keep her learning this summer. Then do them.

Organization now helps with exams later

At this time of year, many things compete for your teen's time and energy. But he'll have an easier time with final exams if he begins preparing now. Have your teen organize his notes. Reviewing will be easier when his notes are in one place in an order that makes sense to him. Now is also the time for your teen to make a daily study plan, since most exams require several days of serious study.
