problems with HTC Desire HD?

Downloafded and installe dthe app on the phone and desktop, and paired
no problem. But the app is unable to focus on the OCR number on my HTC
Desire HD, no matter what lighting. Looks like the autofocus gets
disabled (works when running Barcode reader separately)
