Hi,

Do y'all know if a package of OCRopus is planned for Ubuntu 12.04?  I can always build from source, of course, but I thought I'd check first.

Well, as I just announced, OCRopus 0.5 has been released.  That is the architecture we'll continue to build on and I recommend that you use that.  It's basically a collection of Python modules and some command line tools.
