I'm trying to create a new characters model, but I don't know which
are the steps of this process. Someone could explain me this process
in details?

There are a series of 8 to 10 minutes videos on youtube.com. I don't have the link right now but if you do a search on the term ocropus on youtube you should get them.

Thanks!

I'm trying generate a new model using truetype fonts. The first results weren't so good. I believe that I used few samples in the training.

The "llgen" tool will do that for you.  However, the classifiers generated from TrueType fonts are generally not that good because they lack the statistical variation found in real documents.  "llgen" can generate additional, artificial character degradations, which may help.

However, we haven't been optimizing recognition for the case where little training data is available.  That kind of functionality obviously would be useful at some point.

Have you taken a look at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt8CaV-MN60 ?  Also, I've found two sets of possible tutorials on Youtube, but they've been set to private ( http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB3AAE949B78CD803 and  http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0B3367BC0E5CAF8D )

You're obviously not able to if it's private - My mentioning of those private playlists wasn't for you, but in hopes that the content poster sees this thread and possibly makes them public. But did you look at the first link?

The videos marked as "private" are for the old version of OCRopus; they don't apply anymore.

This is the playlist that describes current installation and usage:

I hope once the semester is over, I'll be able to add some more videos.

It would be nice to have transcription of installation/training also,if possible  for benefit of users of ocropus.
