I'm trying to display my phone's screen on a monitor. Landscape works correctly but when I flip to portrait the screen fills a small portion in the middle of the screen instead of changing orientation. I plan to turn the monitor sideways to display the device screen and lock it in portrait. Has anyone come up with a way to change the orientation? I'm using the netgear ptv3000. I'm considering purchasing the allsharecast hub, but I'm not certain that will work either. Thanks!!
Have a mosey around in the kernel configuration as there may be something in there for Media/TV capture...? as for the actual app within Android itself, have not seen it. Worthy a investigation into the kernel though :)
I have acomplished this by using a cheap laptop connected to the tv, with ms display set to portrit. I use Soti Pocket controller, an app to send the phone screen to the laptop. Takes a little tweaking, but you can get full screen of phone on the TV, edge to edge. That's the only way I know to do this.
Hello I beg to differ: If you connect to the Miracast while already in landscape mode, you get a landscape mode display on the TV. At least, with 2 differnet phones (Android v4 and V7) and 2 differnet miracast (Microsoft's and chinese compatible) I get landscape mode.Marc
I'm using Android's Miracast system to project my Android screen to my Windows 10 computer. This is working fine (though I notice I have to reboot my computer sometimes to get it to show up as an available device to the phone).
As I've searched around, it appears this message is causing others confusion too. I think there is a checkbox in the Action center > Connect menu when connecting to some other devices (like maybe another Windows 10 box?). But nothing shows up in the Connect area when this Android device is connected, so I can't figure out how to enable touch controls - there's no checkbox to click.
A test done by a user named rajeshthampi in the post"Project to this pc" not available on Win 10 despite correct hardwareshows that the checkbox is present when projecting from Windows to Windows,but not when projecting from Android to Windows.
In phones with Android 5 (Lollipop) and newer versions, you can enable "Extras" > "Control Phone / Screen-Mirroring". This can be done via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB after installing the companion app on the phone.

I've found a for-fee product called Vysor that solves the problem via USB cable. This provides excellent, stable bandwidth and resolution. It has a free, crippled version or a full featured version for $10/year. It doesn't meet all the requirements in the question but it's the highest quality option I've found yet.

When casting my screen from a Samsung Note 8 to the Picopix Max, the video looks very choppy/not fluid. Everything is updated to the latest version.
Anyone has the same issue?
In apps like YT, TED and NETFLIX, the video is smooth. It seems to be an issue with the Miracast, right?

I have Chromecast and AirPlay [ON] in the settings but I cannot find how to connect my android to either the chromecast interface nor the AirPlay. Do we need to install a 3rd party app in order to connect to stream to the PPM?
What bridge mode is in use on the Meraki wireless configuration? Take a peek at the "Access Control" page. If it's running in NAT mode for example (the default) then it enforces L2 client isolation by default. If it's in Bridge mode, make sure L2 isolation isn't enabled. Try running some packet captures, you should be able to do that on the wired and wireless sides of the AP to narrow down the issue. If not familiar with what you're looking at with the pcaps, open a quick Meraki Support case from Dashboard for them to assist (and also in case it has nothing to do with bridge modes).
Got it, you're in bridge mode already, and assuming client isolation is turned off (which should be the default). Before diving into the pcaps, are both clients (the phone and the TV when connected via wireless) both showing up under Network-wide > Clients? Try running a ping from the AP to the 2 client devices just to confirm there's IP reachability from the AP to both the TV and your phone. If you look at the Tools tab of the AP and run the ARP table, you can see both your TV (when it's on wireless) and the phone? And if you look at the Wireless Health on the Connections tab, any reports of any client issues with auth or dns or dhcp or passing traffic?
I do see them both in clients. in fact the tv works fine streaming out to the internet. I have another Samsung tv hardwired in to the same meraki network. the wireless display on that tv had the same issue until I hard wired it...then magically the wireless display started working.
