The gameplay is very simple: your young skater will move nonstop in a straight line and your job is simply to jump or double-jump whenever necessary. Along the way, of course, you have to try to collect as many coins as possible to buy new boards and skaters.
DENVER (CBS4)- Skaters from the cast of Disney On Ice got on the ice Wednesday morning at the Skyline Skating Rink, ahead of their opening show with a group young skaters. With support from the Downtown Denver Partnership, children from HopeKids got an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to skate with the stars behind the masks.
"This is such a neat way for skaters to get out and give back to the community and get to know people. I have made some really fun, new friends here today. It's just a great thing that we love to do," said Disney On Ice skater Jennifer Payne.
It feels like after every run of Skyline Skaters, something is gained. Whether that's completing one of the many challenges listed, unlocking a new skater or board, or gaining a new power up, it's enough to give a steady sense of progression. Fun progression at that. Leveling-up skaters as well as their boards should keep one occupied as there's a fair amount to unlock here. Skyline Skaters's consistently vibrant style makes for an endearing mix too, encouraging one to persevere.
Those coins unlock powerups, boards, and new skaters with their own special abilities, but of course you can always pay real-ass money to get there quicker. And that kinda leads to my biggest issue with the game.
Can the words of that song conjure any image besides roller skating? If so, maybe the song will live on, but roller skating, at least in Laramie, Wyoming, will not. As of the last weekend in April, skaters in Laramie put their right legs and so forth in and out for the final time, as Skyline Skate closed for good.
Lisa Poledna had told me her main regret in closing the rink was that this loyal group of teen customers would no longer have a safe, fun place to hang out. She said owning the rink had taught her that she wanted to find a way to keep working with kids, helping them stay out of trouble. Some of the remarkable skaters I saw that day not only virtually grew up at the rink, they held jobs there. They were losing not only a hangout, but a paycheck, too.
It was difficult for a lot of the skaters to maintain their education after adding a club into their schedule along with all of the other practices they had for private teams. Because of this, a lot of girls quit or lost the spark they had when they started.
I watched skyline a while ago, and checked today to see if he had uploaded anything since I last watched him. But no, the 2-2-2 video is still his most recent one. Does anyone know what happened to him? Did he post somewhere that he is not making yt content anymore, or did he just vanish?
