Our 12 noon luncheon for Wednesday, July 11th will be held at
Italiano’s restaurant, 4801 North Lincoln Blvd in OKC. Our meeting
this week will focus on determining the outstanding lawmakers of the
year for both the Senate and House. That will include the outstanding
freshmen and of course the dubious RINO awards for both the House and
Senate. We will have plenty of time for debate and then our members
who are present and have paid their dues by no later than June 27th
will be allowed to vote for those determinations.
++ OKLAHOMA LAWMAKER RANKINGS FOR 2012
Following will be the rankings for the Oklahoma lawmakers which is a
reflection on this year’s session as well as their lifetime average
based on the Oklahoma Constitution Newspaper’s Conservative Index
(this will be the 34 year for the Index). The first list will be
Republican Senator’s rankings for this year’s session. After each name
will be 2 numbers. The first number is this year’s score and the
second number will be their lifetime average. Once the first list is
finished the second list will simply be based on their lifetime
average only. Following the Republican Senate list will be the same
set up for the Democrats in the Senate. Please note, some of the
Democrats may score near or higher than the most liberal Republicans.
Any Republican scoring a 60 or below is nominated for the RINO of the
year award. Once the Senate is finished, the House will be presented.

As a point of interest, Democrats Charlie Laster and Tom Adelson both
chose not to run for re-election. The Democrat party failed to field a
candidate in those districts; therefore, whoever wins the Republican
primary run-off races on August 28th will be the new Senator for those
districts and will represent a pick-up of 2 more seats for the
Republican party. In addition, Democrat Senate seats currently or
formerly held by Wyrick, Wilson, Ellis, Lerblance, Garrison, and
Paddack, are all in play. Most likely the seat formerly held by
McIntyre will be safe for the Democrats. What is amazing is that the
Democrats controlled the State Senate from Statehood in 1907 until
they lost control to a slim Republican majority in 2008. Today, the
Republicans have control with a 32 to 16 majority and expect to widen
that majority this November.

++ AL GERHEART, THE DELUSIONAL SPIN DOCTOR
I took the time to open Al’s “Sooner Tea Party” newsletter this week
and became quite amused to see his latest spin on the ACCOMPLISHMENTS
of the Sooner Tea Party. As usual, this delusional spin doctor was
trying to absorb as much credit as possible for his Sooner Tea Party.
He was suggesting a Tulsa World article stated that the Sooner Tea
Party types of lawmakers would occupy a fourth of the House in the
coming session. So, I took the time to read the Tulsa World article
and found it made no reference to the Sooner Tea Party at all.
Now folks, there are tea party organizations all over the state, most
of which are 75 members or less and have developed into local
organizations which meet on a monthly basis. They have varying agendas
and strategies to reach their goals. In my opinion, Al is probably the
only Tea Party leader who likes to envision himself as a state-wide
player, capable of scaling tall buildings, faster than a speeding
bullet, more powerful than a speeding locomotive. Super Al and the
efforts of his Sooner Tea Party were so effective on election day of
June 26th that he saved us from becoming like Cuba on June 27th. Wow,
Al was so important that Michael Turner would not have beat Guy
Liebmann if not for Al and his little newspaper thrown on thousands of
driveways just before the election.
Give me a break, Mike Turner sent Liebmann packing because Mike is a
sharp and energetic young man who worked very hard meeting voters with
fresh ideas as well as having sufficient resources to get his message
out. I talked with Mike a few days before the election and he was
purposely going light in the last few days as he was discerning the
voters had had their fill with campaigning and they were ready to vote
and get the election over with. Mike is fortunate that Al’s paper
didn’t cost him the race. But Al got his name in the big newspapers
and that is what is important to Al, much like my criticism of him
here will be. I believe Al measures his worth to humanity based on how
much attention he is getting, be it positive or negative.
In Al’s newsletter he was so self righteous as to proclaim the Sooner
Tea Party didn’t support the Rally Against Obamacare this past weekend
because it wouldn’t accomplish anything other than allowing some folks
to blow off steam and think they had really done something. By the
way, congratulations to the organizers for a great rally, about 500 in
attendance, many of whom got connected with many of the grass roots
organizations doing the heavy lifting. Also, welcome to the many new
folks on the OCPAC e-mail list.
Me thinks Al has become the kiss of death to most efforts and while I
wasn’t in on the organization for the event, I doubt they made any
effort to include him. His ineffective troublemaker reputation now pre-
cedes him.
I believe it was last year that Al and his Sooner Tea Party tried to
host a rally at the Capitol. It appeared on TV and in a newspaper
picture that about 30 folks turned out, that after the Sooner Tea
Party supposedly spent a thousand dollars on radio advertising and no
telling what on a sound system and other efforts. That flop of a
rally was a giant step toward marginalizing Al and his Sooner Tea
Party.
The final nail in the coffin toward marginalizing Al was June 26th
when the one race in which he had most heavily invested (the Don Armes
race) was a flop. Over the past year and a half or so Al and his
Sooner Tea Party had knocked doors in the district, distributed
information, put up signs, and provided robo calls exposing what a
RINO the local boy Don happened to be, and the outcome of all that
hard work? Armes got something like 79% of the vote. Another race Al
had worked hard in was the OKC seat held by Jason Nelson. Again, over
a lengthy period of time I believe Al worked hard to educate the
voters in Nelson’s district about what a RINO their boy Jason happened
to be. Al got the voters so riled up that Jason didn’t even draw a
primary opponent.
Of course the most harm done to candidates was in the city council
races of a year and a half ago. Even before filing date, Al the media
hound, was in the press again telling about the Sooner Tea Party
candidates. That was so dumb, as it gave the OKC mafia a heads up and
a early start in their efforts to destroy the good reputations of the
men challenging their little fiefdom. We had these 2 men at an OCPAC
meeting several weeks earlier for a fund raiser, but billed the
meeting as having a couple of mystery speakers so as not to alert the
powerful forces in OKC any earlier than possible.
Going forward, may I suggest a piece of wisdom. Don’t get between Al
and a reporter, TV camera or radio microphone as you might get run
over. I have my doubts that Al will ever develop the discipline to
finesse an election and work quietly in the background to help
candidates. His style is more like a bull in a china closet. There is
a time to be out front, but most of the time quietly working in the
background is more valuable. There was a recent editorial in the
Oklahoman referencing Al. Their take in my words was that Al has a
lust for control. I believe they sure got that right and as such it is
a root of many of his problems.

As a point of interest, Democrats Charlie Laster and Tom Adelson both
chose not to run for re-election. The Democrat party failed to field a
candidate in those districts; therefore, whoever wins the Republican
primary run-off races on August 28th will be the new Senator for those
districts and will represent a pick-up of 2 more seats for the
Republican party. In addition, Democrat Senate seats currently or
formerly held by Wyrick, Wilson, Ellis, Lerblance, Garrison, and
Paddack, are all in play. Most likely the seat formerly held by
McIntyre will be safe for the Democrats. What is amazing is that the
Democrats controlled the State Senate from Statehood in 1907 until
they lost control to a slim Republican majority in 2008. Today, the
Republicans have control with a 32 to 16 majority and expect to widen
that majority this November.

++ AL GERHEART, THE DELUSIONAL SPIN DOCTOR
I took the time to open Al’s “Sooner Tea Party” newsletter this week
and became quite amused to see his latest spin on the ACCOMPLISHMENTS
of the Sooner Tea Party. As usual, this delusional spin doctor was
trying to absorb as much credit as possible for his Sooner Tea Party.
He was suggesting a Tulsa World article stated that the Sooner Tea
Party types of lawmakers would occupy a fourth of the House in the
coming session. So, I took the time to read the Tulsa World article
and found it made no reference to the Sooner Tea Party at all.
Now folks, there are tea party organizations all over the state, most
of which are 75 members or less and have developed into local
organizations which meet on a monthly basis. They have varying agendas
and strategies to reach their goals. In my opinion, Al is probably the
only Tea Party leader who likes to envision himself as a state-wide
player, capable of scaling tall buildings, faster than a speeding
bullet, more powerful than a speeding locomotive. Super Al and the
efforts of his Sooner Tea Party were so effective on election day of
June 26th that he saved us from becoming like Cuba on June 27th. Wow,
Al was so important that Michael Turner would not have beat Guy
Liebmann if not for Al and his little newspaper thrown on thousands of
driveways just before the election.
Give me a break, Mike Turner sent Liebmann packing because Mike is a
sharp and energetic young man who worked very hard meeting voters with
fresh ideas as well as having sufficient resources to get his message
out. I talked with Mike a few days before the election and he was
purposely going light in the last few days as he was discerning the
voters had had their fill with campaigning and they were ready to vote
and get the election over with. Mike is fortunate that Al’s paper
didn’t cost him the race. But Al got his name in the big newspapers
and that is what is important to Al, much like my criticism of him
here will be. I believe Al measures his worth to humanity based on how
much attention he is getting, be it positive or negative.
In Al’s newsletter he was so self righteous as to proclaim the Sooner
Tea Party didn’t support the Rally Against Obamacare this past weekend
because it wouldn’t accomplish anything other than allowing some folks
to blow off steam and think they had really done something. By the
way, congratulations to the organizers for a great rally, about 500 in
attendance, many of whom got connected with many of the grass roots
organizations doing the heavy lifting. Also, welcome to the many new
folks on the OCPAC e-mail list.
Me thinks Al has become the kiss of death to most efforts and while I
wasn’t in on the organization for the event, I doubt they made any
effort to include him. His ineffective troublemaker reputation now pre-
cedes him.
I believe it was last year that Al and his Sooner Tea Party tried to
host a rally at the Capitol. It appeared on TV and in a newspaper
picture that about 30 folks turned out, that after the Sooner Tea
Party supposedly spent a thousand dollars on radio advertising and no
telling what on a sound system and other efforts. That flop of a
rally was a giant step toward marginalizing Al and his Sooner Tea
Party.
The final nail in the coffin toward marginalizing Al was June 26th
when the one race in which he had most heavily invested (the Don Armes
race) was a flop. Over the past year and a half or so Al and his
Sooner Tea Party had knocked doors in the district, distributed
information, put up signs, and provided robo calls exposing what a
RINO the local boy Don happened to be, and the outcome of all that
hard work? Armes got something like 79% of the vote. Another race Al
had worked hard in was the OKC seat held by Jason Nelson. Again, over
a lengthy period of time I believe Al worked hard to educate the
voters in Nelson’s district about what a RINO their boy Jason happened
to be. Al got the voters so riled up that Jason didn’t even draw a
primary opponent.
Of course the most harm done to candidates was in the city council
races of a year and a half ago. Even before filing date, Al the media
hound, was in the press again telling about the Sooner Tea Party
candidates. That was so dumb, as it gave the OKC mafia a heads up and
a early start in their efforts to destroy the good reputations of the
men challenging their little fiefdom. We had these 2 men at an OCPAC
meeting several weeks earlier for a fund raiser, but billed the
meeting as having a couple of mystery speakers so as not to alert the
powerful forces in OKC any earlier than possible.
Going forward, may I suggest a piece of wisdom. Don’t get between Al
and a reporter, TV camera or radio microphone as you might get run
over. I have my doubts that Al will ever develop the discipline to
finesse an election and work quietly in the background to help
candidates. His style is more like a bull in a china closet. There is
a time to be out front, but most of the time quietly working in the
background is more valuable. There was a recent editorial in the
Oklahoman referencing Al. Their take in my words was that Al has a
lust for control. I believe they sure got that right and as such it is
a root of many of his problems.
