OKLAHOMA CONSERVATIVE PAC VOTER GUIDE
Republican Primary Election June 26
The OCPAC Voter Guide below is a static email, so be sure to double-check our online Voter Guide for the latest updates.
Over thirty years ago, friends of Charlie Meadows, founder of OCPAC, began asking him for his opinions on issues and candidates. Eventually the number of inquiries became so great that he began sending a mass email before each election which he called “Charlie’s Picks.” Even though Charlie retired from OCPAC over three years ago, the tradition of providing a well-researched, conservative voter guide continues. Consider donating to OCPAC to help fund our work.
Please forward these picks as far as you like. If you have received these picks by forwarded email, please join our Facebook group to receive regular updates, or send us an email at miche...@gmail.com to be added to our email distribution list. We generally send only one update per week, and we will not share your email address with anyone.
The following advice represents the opinion of a majority of OCPAC’s leadership. Our recommendations will be organized into five major sections: 1) U.S. Congress, 2) State Question 788, 3) Oklahoma Statewide Races, 4) Oklahoma Senate, and 5) Oklahoma House of Representatives. In each race we may label candidates as “endorsed,” “picked,” or “your choice.” Here is what those designations mean:
Endorsed. Candidates who are endorsed by OCPAC have received our seal of approval. We believe their values align with OCPAC values. They have completed our survey and appeared in person before our PAC for a grueling interview. Based on this vetting process, we believe they understand the proper role of limited government. They believe in the superiority of free markets over state-guided economic development, even in areas such as education and health care. They understand the duty of the state to defend its citizens against the oppression of the federal government. They believe we should not sanction, institutionalize, or encourage evil and depraved behavior, even if the federal government has done so.
PICKED. Some candidates we simply pick by putting their names in all caps. This typically means the candidate agrees with us on certain key issues of high importance which would make that candidate preferable to the alternatives. We will attempt to explain a little about each pick.
YOUR CHOICE. This might mean we were unable to obtain enough information to make a pick. Some candidates do not respond to our inquiries and their campaign materials hold no trustworthy substance. Or this might mean we believe all of the choices are equally bad. What if none of the candidates believes in education choice for parents? What if they all support state-guided economic development? What if they all want to continue allowing babies to be murdered? In those cases, we sympathize with how hard it must be to make “your choice.”
Throughout this voter guide we will reference scores from the Oklahoma Conservative Index (Index), which we formulate in partnership with The Oklahoma Constitution newspaper. The Index is an objective standard that grades actual votes against a truly conservative standard.
1) UNITED STATES CONGRESS
U.S. Congressman District 1 NATHAN DAHM has been a consistent conservative in the Oklahoma Senate and is a perennial OCPAC award winner.
U.S. Congressman District 2 JARRIN JACKSON. Of all the challengers, Mr. Jackson probably has the best chance of upsetting an incumbent. He is charismatic, hardworking, and has a far greater understanding of the Constitution than Congressman Mullin, who has a lifetime average of 64% on the Freedom Index.
U.S. Congressman District 4 JAMES TAYLOR. The incumbent, Tom Cole, continually votes like a liberal Democrat, as evidenced by his 54% score on the Freedom Index.
2) State Question 788 NO.
If approved, SQ 788 would legalize cannabis under certain circumstances. Passing the measure to legalize some use of cannabis for medical purposes would be at least a small step towards liberty, private property rights, and free markets. Suffering patients would finally get access to a much-needed drug.
However, there are many reasons to vote NO. Evangelical Christians will no doubt vote NO because they see the proverbial camel’s nose under the tent, the camel being out-of-control recreational use, which they believe would lead to even more cultural decay and expensive societal problems. Likewise, Libertarians would want to vote NO based on principle. A Libertarian should never, never, never vote to grant new or expanded power and control to government. Their agenda would be better served by passing on this Pandora’s Box, and waiting for complete legalization with no strings attached. They may believe voting YES will give them a slippery slope to a spring of living water, but the slide will actually end up in a putrid political swamp.
Consider the consequences of enacting SQ 788: 1) Not to treat cannabis like any other plant and legalize it for everyone perpetuates the violation of liberty and property rights. 2) To legalize cannabis for only state-approved people and purposes violates the free market. State bureaucrats with political connections will pick winners and losers. 3) Because of state control, crony capitalism will extend to yet another industry, as the influence and money of new lobbyists pour into the state capitol swamp. 4) SQ 788 would create a fascist “Ministry of Medijuana” with total control over the industry. Just look at all the licenses being proposed: license to use, license to give care, license to sell, license to grow, license to process, license to transport, and license to research. 5) The new state agency would fall under the State Department of Health, the same corrupt department that “lost” at least $30 million. 6) Once this new agency is created, it will immediately begin to protect and grow its power. We would likely never be able to capture, control, or decapitate the new state beast. 7) Because the proposal consists of simple statutory changes, the legislature can construct and add even more odious restrictions and regulations on using, licensing, growing, producing, selling, transporting, researching, and TAXING cannabis!
Should the state be micromanaging and controlling every person, every acre, every facility, and every ounce of product along the supply chain? Will the state do a fair, equitable, and efficient job of controlling the industry? How will the state actually control cannabis? The legislature or the new Ministry of Medijuana could create a new Gestapo-like force to police the whole industry. Do we want state agents snooping around our private property, harassing us and making demands? Could this power ever be abused? Sometimes a shiny bracelet that looks like liberty is really a shackle in disguise. Dare we try it on?
3) OKLAHOMA STATEWIDE RACES
Governor DAN FISHER is endorsed by OCPAC. Fisher is the only candidate with a strategic plan to make Oklahoma the first abortion-free state. No other candidate supports the immediate abolition of abortion in Oklahoma. Fisher is the only candidate who clearly understands state sovereignty and has pledged to assert states’ rights to push back against unconstitutional federal mandates. Fisher has pledged to audit every state agency and restore proper government. Fisher has gone beyond signing the Tax Payers Unite platform. Unlike his opponents, Fisher has affirmed that he would vote to repeal the legislature’s massive tax hike. In stark contrast, these candidates are all on record in support of raising taxes and continuing to comply with federal abortion policy: Kevin Stitt, Todd Lamb, and Mick Cornett.
Like Mick Cornett and Kevin Stitt, Todd Lamb has a record of supporting tax increases, from voting for the unconstitutional cigarette tax fee, to supporting Governor Fallin’s proposed removal of current tax exemptions on some goods and services, which could have added up to over $6 billion in new taxes. And like Cornett, Lamb has received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the StepUp tax-and-spend crowd. Lamb is not strong on social issues, either. Earlier this year Lamb chose to officiate over a homosexual being sworn into his Senate. Like Governor Fallin, Todd Lamb calls himself “very pro-life,” but what he will not tell you is that the bill he brags about authoring many years ago was nothing more than a minor healthcare regulation. When asked by Oklahomans United for Life to help put abortionists out of business, Lamb flat-out refused. It is reasonable to argue that as a result of Mary Fallin and Todd Lamb’s choices, two new abortion providers have opened for business in Oklahoma. Lamb has been working for government for most of his life, and he has spent the last eight years shadowing Mary Fallin and campaigning for her job. We do not need another “very pro-life” governor. From economics to social issues, Lamb would be another Mary Fallin, in jeans.
Another top contender is Mick Cornett. In any other era of Oklahoma history, Cornett would be running as a Democrat. His claims to fame are Thunder Basketball and the Bricktown Riverwalk. These attractions were funded by taxing people all over OKC, even those who care nothing about basketball or visiting our little imitation of San Antonio. These amusements are nice for those who enjoy them, but do we want Cornett to be able to tax the whole state to pave a few more select streets with gold for his campaign cronies? Cornett does not even hide the fact that he supports tax hikes, admitting on KFAQ radio that tax increases are on the table for consideration. Cornett’s campaign has received several maximum donations from the StepUp tax-increase supporters. Tax and spend policies cripple individuals and small businesses around the state and are unsustainable. Cornett is also a self-professed moral relativist who is weak on social issues. He has expressed ignorance of sanctuary cities and referred to illegals as “illegal citizens.” Here, he has coined a new, logically contradictory, category of people who cannot exist. One can be an illegal immigrant, a legal immigrant, or a citizen, but not an “illegal citizen.” Cornett was the mayor of a city where a new private abortion facility opened. Cornett took no action as mayor to keep it from opening, nor has he ever issued any public statement against the facility opening in his city.
Kevin Stitt would like us to believe he holds strong convictions against taxation, but in various forums around the state, Stitt has explained that he would raise taxes as long as they were similar to surrounding states. He makes no appeal to moral principle, no commitment to abolishing or reducing taxes; only a relativistic attitude that justifies theft and punishing productivity because everyone else is doing it. Watch Stitt justify tax hikes in his own words. Like Todd Lamb, Stitt claims to be “pro-life,” but he has admitted he will do nothing about abortion.
Lieutenant Governor YOUR CHOICE. No candidate in this race was worthy of an OCPAC endorsement or pick. Here is a little information on each candidate. Eddie Fields has served in the Legislature since 2008, during which time he managed a conservative rating of 53%, and during the 2017 term he scored only 16%. Dana Murphy is an extreme liberal feminist who has survived in Republican politics by serving as a regulator through most of her career. Now that she wants to be an executive, her pro-abortion, liberal colors have been exposed. Matt Pinnell is the quintessential slick-talking politician. He knows how to package his ideas in a way that makes them sound a lot like your ideas. He is eloquent and a great marketer. He has run the best race and has the best shot to win, but make no mistake, Pinnell is a big-government, establishment Republican who never met an economic development scheme he did not like. He believes it is the proper role of state government to mastermind and manage the economy and to use our tax dollars to bribe out-of-state corporations to move in and compete against our homegrown businesses. On KFAQ radio, he dodged the question of repealing the tax hike with one of his political answers that almost sounded like he agreed with you, but not quite. Pinnell clearly has his eye on the governor’s mansion. Dominique Damón Block seems to have the best political philosophy, although some of his ideas are inconsistent with each other. But if you want to vote for the candidate with the best understanding of limited government and free markets, Block is your man. However, he has not tried to raise enough money to get his name out.
State Superintendent of Schools LINDA MURPHY “I believe Oklahomans want new leadership in education. We have seen the lack of leadership…where the OEA union, which gave money to help elect Joy Hofmeister in 2014, took over leadership in our state capitol. Oklahoma’s public schools can provide excellence in education when we allow teachers to teach without forcing experimental programs into the classroom. That includes the nationalized testing, which has been implemented as part of Hofmeister’s new plan. Student testing should be academic and align with the curriculum used by the teacher. Local schools should be allowed to make decisions about their schools, students, methods, and materials. There is no one-size-fits-all solution that can be mandated that will improve education. We need to stop those mandates and the millions of dollars we spend when we try to control from the top down. Oklahoma’s public-school funding should be directed to the classrooms. These changes will provide an environment where students love learning and teachers love teaching!”
State Auditor and Inspector YOUR CHOICE. Here is a thirteen-minute video clip with each candidate making a statement to help you decide.
Insurance Commissioner DONALD CHASTEEN. His opponent, Rep. Glen Mulready, was rated only 20% conservative in 2017, and had a lifetime conservative average of only 61%. He served as Majority Floor Leader and helped to pass the largest tax increase in state history. Many of his votes demonstrate he does not understand the free market.
Commissioner of Labor CATHY COSTELLO. Her opponent is Leslie Osborn whose lifetime conservative rating was only 51%, and was all the way down to 19% last year. She was OCPAC’s RINO of the Year award winner in 2016 for openly and actively championing tax increases and for leading the charge to give away our state sovereignty. These types of so-called Republicans are extremely dangerous in regulatory agencies where they can work without much transparency or accountability to undermine free markets and small businesses.
Corporation Commissioner BOB ANTHONY has stood against corruption at the Corporation Commission year after year, and he is still fighting it today.
Attorney General GENTNER DRUMMOND. The sitting A.G., Mike Hunter, was appointed by Gov. Fallin and appears to be a Mary Fallin yes-man. As evidence, he issued an opinion that directly opposes the Oklahoma Constitution and protected many of Fallin’s most odious vetoes. Rather than follow the clear wording of our constitution, Hunter appealed to the de facto practice of the U.S. Congress as precedent.
4) OKLAHOMA STATE SENATE
SD 2 (Mayes, Rogers) Senator MARTY QUINN had the seventh highest conservative rating in the Senate in 2017 and has a lifetime average of 67%. While not the most conservative, he has performed reasonably well. He is being challenged by a radical educrat who was part of the teacher union strike and wants to raise taxes.
SD 4 (Leflore, Sequoyah) MARK ALLEN is the fifth most conservative sitting senator with a lifetime average of 76%. He is being challenged by a radical educrat who was part of the teacher union strike and wants to raise taxes.
SD 6 (Atoka, Bryan, Coal, Johnston, Marshall) YOUR CHOICE. This is Sen. Josh Brecheen’s open seat. Both David Bullard, who works across the border as a Texas educator, and Erick Wyatt, an Army veteran, had good things to say at OCPAC; therefore, we did not endorse in the race.
SD 10 (Kay, Osage) AMBER ROBERTS is endorsed by Senators Nathan Dahm and Josh Brecheen and by Representatives Chuck Strohm and Jason Murphey, all OCPAC award winners. Her opponent, Gary Lanham, lost favor with OCPAC when he told the Green Country PLAC on June 2 that he favored raising the oil tax to 7% and opposed repealing the massive, unnecessary spring tax hike.
SD 14 (Carter, Johnston, Love, Murray) JOE CAUDLE is running against incumbent RINO Frank Simpson who scored only 23% on the 2017 Index and voted for the massive tax increase on gas, oil, tobacco, and church camps.
SD 16 (Cleveland) YOUR CHOICE. We are talking about Norman and OU here, so you are not going to get a truly conservative option. In fact, when Ed Crocker served in the legislature back in the 90s, he was a Democrat. He declined to interview with OCPAC. The alternative is the liberal educrat and gun-control advocate Becki Maldonado.
SD 18 (Cherokee, Mayes, Muskogee, Tulsa, Wagoner) ERIC TOMLINSON is running on a no-new-taxes platform against RINO incumbent Kim David who scored 29% on the 2017 Index and voted for the massive tax increase on gas, oil, tobacco, and church camps.
SD 20 (Kingfisher, Logan, Noble, Pawnee) AIYA KELLEY is endorsed by OCPAC. She has signed the Tax Payers Unite platform. Her opponent, Chuck Hall, is endorsed by the RINO A.J. Griffin who vacates this seat with a 2017 conservative rating of only 19%.
SD 22 (Canadian, Oklahoma) LESLIE NESSMITH is endorsed by OCPAC. She is a small-business owner who stands for liberty and the Second Amendment. NesSmith is adamantly against taxation of all types. A traditional Republican, she wants to reduce the size and scope of state government. She is running against incumbent RINO Stephanie Bice who scored only 10% on the 2017 Index and voted for the massive tax increase on gas, oil, tobacco, and church camps. Bice has also proposed massive new taxes on services.
SD 24 (Cleveland) DAN BELCHER is a successful real estate manager and investor. Dan is clearly a free-market, anti-establishment option. His opponent, Darrell Weaver, is the former director of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, and if elected, he would likely continue to block civil asset forfeiture reform.
SD 28 (Lincoln, Pottawatomie, Seminole) YOUR CHOICE. Robert McKinney is challenging incumbent Jason Smalley who scored 30% on the 2017 Index and voted for the massive tax increase on gas, oil, tobacco, and church camps. However, McKinney is a political novice and has not articulated any great policy recommendations based on sound political philosophy.
SD 30 (Oklahoma City, Woodlawn Park, The Village) JOHN SYMCOX is endorsed by OCPAC.
SD 36 (Tulsa, Wagoner) DANA PRIETO is endorsed by OCPAC. Bill Day is a radical educrat.
SD 40 (Oklahoma) JOE HOWELL is challenging perennial RINO Ervin Yen. Beyond voting the wrong way on every piece of legislation put before him, Yen has been a pro-active author of statist legislation, including legislation to force vaccination on unwilling citizens. Unseating Yen is the most important vote in the Senate.
5) OKLAHOMA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
HD 3 (LeFlore) ELDON DUGAN. The other candidate, Lundy Kiger, is a former Democrat.
HD 5 (Delaware, Mayes) JOSH RUSSELL is endorsed by OCPAC. With a conservative rating of only 10%, the incumbent RINO Josh West had a more liberal voting record than most Democrats. He voted for socialized groceries, a smoking tax, national ID cards, economic development handouts, increased income taxes, increased vehicle taxes, and new regulations on small business.
HD 8 (Mayes, Rogers, Wagoner) TOM GANN is endorsed by OCPAC. He is also a successful businessman who does not need the job. He refused our offer to help finance his campaign. He scored 100% on the 2018 Index.
HD 10 (Nowata, Osage, Washington) TRAVIS DUNLAP is endorsed by OCPAC and has an average conservative rating of 84%.
HD 11 (Rogers, Tulsa, Washington) YOUR CHOICE. Both candidates are approved by the liberal public education group.
HD 12 (Wagoner) NICK MAHONEY is endorsed by OCPAC, by Rep. John Bennett, and by Sen. Josh Brecheen. He is running against incumbent Rep. Kevin McDugle who was rated 35% conservative in 2018. According to Article 8 Section 1 of the state constitution, McDugle should have been impeached for “moral turpitude.” Historically, most legislators in his situation have resigned or not sought to continue in office, but McDugle filed to run again. Furthermore, McDugle moved out of his district when he split with his wife, and his primary residence, by his own admission, has not been in the district. He should not have been allowed to run. It also appears McDugle may have leveraged his influence and friendship with Mahoney’s boss, to get Mahoney fired from his job. Mahoney has retained legal counsel and is considering all legal options, including wrongful termination. Former Congressman Jim Bridenstine has retracted his endorsement of McDugle and asked that it be removed from McDugle’s website.
Because of the possible wrongful termination, Mahoney has been forced to suspend his campaign so that he can provide for his family. As is often the case in politics, the swamp creatures get the upper hand. However, Mahoney’s name will still appear on the ballot, so voters can keep a clean conscience and vote for Mahoney anyway.
HD 14 (Cherokee, Muskogee) GEORGE FAUGHT has accrued a lifetime conservative rating of 74%, and he supports parental choice for vaccination.
HD 15 (Haskell, LeFlore, McIntosh, Muskogee, Pittsburg, Sequoyah) YOUR CHOICE. We did not interview in this race since the district is a Democratic stronghold.
HD 17 (Latimer, LeFlore, Pittsburg) YOUR CHOICE. We did not interview in this race since the district is a Democratic stronghold.
HD 18 (Coal, Hughes, McIntosh, Pittsburg) YOUR CHOICE. We did not interview in this race since the district is a Democratic stronghold.
HD 20 (Cleveland, Garvin, McClain, Pottawatomie) BOBBY CLEVELAND. With a lifetime conservative average of 73%, Rep. Cleveland is one of our more conservative legislators.
HD 25 (Pontotoc) SHAWN HOWARD.
HD 26 (Pottawatomie) LUCAS CANNON is challenging the incumbent RINO, Rep. Dell Kerbs, who was rated only 10% conservative last year. His lifetime average is only 25%.
HD 27 (Cleveland, Pottawatomie) DAVE SPAULDING is endorsed by OCPAC.
HD 30 (Creek, Tulsa) KENT GLESENER is challenging incumbent Rep. Mark Lawson, who has a 43% lifetime average on the Index. Another challenger, Chuck Threadgill, is pro-tax increases.
HD 31 (Logan, Oklahoma) ROD BAKER is endorsed by OCPAC. As was said of John Adams in 1776, Rod is known for being “obnoxious and disliked,” but one will never doubt Rod’s principles, and he would never compromise with leadership. He will be a bulldog, fighting the establishment every step of the way. This seat is being vacated by term-limited Rep. Jason Murphey. Rod’s opponent, Garry Mize, is endorsed by Sen. A.J. Griffin, who has a lifetime conservative rating of only 57%. There is another candidate in the race who seems to have a good head on his shoulders, but he is not as confident of where the lines of right and wrong are as Rod Baker.
HD 33 (Logan, Payne) JOHN TALLEY is running to unseat RINO Rep. Greg Babinec who was rated only 10% conservative in 2017.
HD 35 (Creek, Noble, Osage, Pawnee, Payne) JAMES WINN is against tax increases. His opponent, Ty Burns, is approved by the liberal public education group.
HD 36 (Osage, Tulsa) SEAN ROBERTS was rated 90% conservative in 2018. He supports parental choice for vaccination, and he deserves our continued support.
HD 37 (Kay, Osage) YOUR CHOICE. Ken Luttrell is challenging incumbent Rep. Steve Vaughan who was rated 40% conservative in 2018, and his lifetime Index average is 60%, which qualifies him as a RINO. However, Luttrell could not be reached, so it could not be ascertained if he should be preferred over Vaughan.
HD 38 (Garfield, Grant, Kay, Logan, Noble) BRIAN HOBBS is endorsed by OCPAC. The incumbent RINO John Pfeiffer was rated only 23% conservative in 2017 after voting for socialized groceries, a tobacco tax increase, federal IDs, an income tax increase, a vehicle tax, and fee increases on businesses. A third candidate in the race is a radical educrat.
HD 39 (Oklahoma) YOUR CHOICE. Rep. Ryan Martinez has an average conservative rating of 42%. Both he and his challenger, Denecia Taylor-Cassil, are approved by the liberal public education group.
HD 40 (Garfield) YOUR CHOICE. RINO Rep. Chad Caldwell was rated only 13% conservative last year, voting for communist convenience stores, the smoking tax, a national ID, higher vehicle and income taxes, and more fees on business. However, his challenger, Taylor Venus, could not be reached for an interview.
HD 41 (from Enid to Piedmont) GREG INGLE is endorsed by OCPAC. He perfectly understands the proper role of government, is a champion of states’ rights, and fully understands the answers to our education woes. Ingle has an excellent chance to win the race based on his connections and name ID in the district. He is a city councilman, serves on the Lahoma Police Department, and is the Chairman of the Garfield County GOP.
HD 42 (Garvin, McClain) ALLIE BURGIN and Cynthia Roe are both traditional Republicans who are against tax increases. One differentiating factor is that Burgin supports parental choice in medicine and opposes state mandated vaccinations, while Cynthia Roe has not taken that same unequivocal stand.
HD 43 (Canadian) CRYSTAL DUNCAN is endorsed by OCPAC. Max Martin and Micheal Oglesby have little name ID or presence. Jay Steagall, who is running on his military record, has been deployed. If deployed again after he is elected, the district could be without representation.
HD 46 (Cleveland) YOUR CHOICE. We did not endorse in this race, and no candidate came to interview.
HD 47 (Canadian) RAMONA RILEY is endorsed by OCPAC. This seat is being vacated by one of the all-time RINOs, Leslie Osborn, who is now seeking the office of Labor Commissioner. Osborn supports Ramona’s competitor, Brian Hill, who is the establishment candidate who cannot articulate the core functions of government and believes abortion is a federal issue. He also hired the disgraced political consultant Fount Holland to represent him. A third candidate, Beverly Adams, is a former elementary school P.E. teacher.
HD 48 (Carter, Garvin, Murray) TAMMY TOWNLEY.
HD 53 (Cleveland) YOUR CHOICE. The Incumbent RINO Mark McBride is part of the Republicrat establishment that is flushing our state’s culture down the drain with progressive taxes, economic development schemes, and compliance with federal tyranny. His conservative rating was 19% this year and only 9% last year. However, his two challengers appear to be running to throw even more taxpayer dollars down the black hole of government education.
HD 57 (Beckham, Blaine, Caddo, Canadian, Custer) YOUR CHOICE. Incumbent RINO Harold Wright is part of the Republicrat establishment that is flushing our state’s culture down the drain with progressive taxes, economic development schemes, and compliance with federal tyranny. His conservative rating last year was only 10%. His challenger, Joy D. Smith, could not be reached for an interview.
HD 60 (Caddo, Canadian) YOUR CHOICE. The incumbent Rep. Rhonda Baker proved to be a RINO in her first year, scoring only 20% on the Conservative Index. However, her opponent Jacqueline Stevenson Smith has no website, platform, or contact information.
HD 61 (Beaver, Cimarron, Ellis, Harper, Texas, Woodward) YOUR CHOICE. Of the three candidates, Colton Buckley is the grassroots liberty candidate. He supports states’ rights and the abolition of abortion. His opponents have establishment connections and have spoken favorably of the StepUp plan and raising the gross production tax.
HD 63 (Comanche, Tillman) JEFF COODY, the incumbent representative, has been all over the place. He has been great on Second Amendment issues, but in 2017 he voted for illegal bond debt, to expand the surveillance and police-state, and to add new business regulations. However, after scoring 53% on the Index that year, he bounced back and bucked liberal leadership to score 90% this year. He is a safer bet than his challengers. Tammie Reynolds and Trey Caldwell are approved by the liberal public education group, and Leigh Todd is pro-tax increases.
HD 65 (Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Grady, Stephens) SCOOTER PARK. His challenger is an educrat who is running to throw even more tax dollars at government schools.
HD 66 (Osage, Tulsa) YOUR CHOICE. The Republicrat incumbent Jadine Nollan is one of the worst RINO legislators, scoring a paltry 13% in 2017 and 39% in 2018. Vote for one of her challengers, either Brian Jackson or Emily DeLozier.
HD 67 (Tulsa) SCOTT MCEACHIN.
HD 68 (Creek, Tulsa) NICOLE NIXON.
HD 69 (Bixby, Jenks, Tulsa) CHUCK STROHM is endorsed by OCPAC and is one of our Consistent Conservative award winners.
HD 71 (Tulsa) ERIC MCCRAY.
HD 74 (Rogers, Tulsa) YOUR CHOICE.
HD 76 (Tulsa) SHELLEY BRUMBAUGH is endorsed by OCPAC. Brumbaugh came up just ten votes short in last fall’s special election race for this House seat. Instead of a true conservative, the legislature was saddled with the radical educrat Ross Ford, who voted for the massive tax increase on gas, oil, tobacco, and church camps. He also voted for an income tax increase and against parental rights. In 2010, Ross Ford served on the Union schoolboard and voted to keep Buster’s Sugartime, a children’s book which features a lesbian couple, on the library shelf. Voting to normalize deviant behavior in the minds of children does not represent conservative values.
HD 79 (Tulsa) DAN HICKS has proven conservative credentials and has been a friend and supporter of OCPAC award-winning Representatives David Brumbaugh and Mike Ritze. His opponent Karen Gilbert is an educrat and chambercrat.
HD 80 (Tulsa, Wagoner) MIKE RITZE stood against Republicrat leadership last year and this year. His lifetime average is 85% on the Index. He is one of the best.
HD 81 (Oklahoma) YOUR CHOICE. Freshman RINO Mike Osburn was rated only 13% conservative in his first legislative session. However, his challengers are two radical educrats. Bailey Huntsman even posted that she supports the teacher strike and the OEA.
HD 82 (Oklahoma) YOUR CHOICE. A dozen candidates are vying for the seat, vacated by term-limited Rep. Kevin Calvey. There will likely be a run-off in this race.
HD 83 (Oklahoma) YOUR CHOICE. OCPAC did not interview or endorse in this race.
HD 91 (Cleveland) BRUCE FLEMING is the best choice, but he is inexperienced and underfunded. He is not likely to beat the incumbent, Chris Kannady, who really needs to go. Kannady is an excellent specimen of a RINO in the wild. His lifetime average is only 35% on the Index.
HD 94 (Oklahoma) YOUR CHOICE. Colin Russell and Jason Sansone are competing in this heavily Democratic district that has been held for several years by Scott Inman. Colin Russell has the better understanding of the purpose of government, but he lacks experience and name recognition and is underfunded. Jason Sansone has said that education is the state’s number one priority, above roads and law enforcement. He also believes in protecting abortion for several exceptions and does not believe life begins until after a heart is beating. As a lawyer, Sansone looks to law suits and the courts to sort out the most contentious issues of our day.
HD 96 (Oklahoma) LEWIS MOORE has a lifetime average of 75% on the Index.
HD 98 (Tulsa, Wagoner) WESLEY PRATT has signed the Tax Payers Unite platform and favors school choice.
HD 100 (Oklahoma) YOUR CHOICE. Paul Abner dropped out of the race, and the other two candidates both supported the teacher strike.
HD 101 (Oklahoma) RICK HORNER is endorsed by OCPAC. The incumbent RINO Tess Teague scored only 9% on the Index in 2017, voting for state-subsidized groceries, unconstitutional federal ID cards, increased income taxes, increased vehicle taxes, and increased regulations on business. This year she authored a new economic development scheme that was used on the 2018 Index as a bad bill.
