Hi amazing fam! Hope things are good and we've been enjoying the nice weather! Summer is ALMOST here! And with summer, is baseball so thought I'd pass along a GoFundMe I've started for a special trip for some of my students. Of course I know we all have a million charities and social causes that we support so seriously ZERO pressure! Some info...

This past school year, I have had the pleasure of teaching a new class called Sophomore Seminar. It was a class my administration created and gave to me one week before school for a group of six boys who recently arrived to the United States and could not be put in our double English class program. These boys came here from various life experiences and struggles and had very long and dangerous journeys to the United States. Even though the class was initially created as a study hour and to help them improve their English, it has also become a class of getting to know each other, learn about each other's cultures, and share life stories. In sharing stories, I have, of course, told these boys about my love for the Chicago Cubs and how awesome the American pastime baseball is. This May we've been reading an ESL book about the sport of baseball, how it is played, and some famous players from the MLB. I'm trying to end the unit by taking these boys to one of my favorite places on Earth, Wrigley Field :) Any donation could help make this life experience happen for these boys!
