Join us for a field trip to Ivy Log Gap Road and Sosebee Cove in the North Georgia mountains. We will meet at the Homewood Shopping Center on Prince Avenue/Jefferson Road at the Athens Bypass, leaving at 6:00 AM. We will carpool using as few vehicles as possible. High-clearance vehicles are strongly recommended, as Ivy Log Gap Road is a Forest Service road.
We will stop at the Ingles Markets around 7:30 AM, hoping to find Willow Flycatcher and other migrants. From there we will bird Ivy Log Gap Road near Young Harris. We plan to have a BBQ lunch in Blairsville, then stop at Sosebee Cove on the way home.
Our field trips are open to the public and welcome birders of all ages and experience levels. Bring binoculars, water, insect repellent, and snacks if desired, and dress for the weather with comfortable shoes.
