Hi OCOM friends,

There isn't a ton of traffic on this list any more but I know there are some people here who don't see these things posted on facebook and I want to get this message out to as many as possible.

Dr. Clayton Shiu is going to teach the Xing Nao Kai Qiao method (same as used in the 9000 Needles movie) around the US this year and is starting a Portland cohort.  Clayton spent 4 years in direct tutelage with Dr. Shi Xue Min, the founder of the system and received his Ph.D. at Tianjin University.  If you are interested in learning how to use acupuncture for stroke rehabilitation and cerebral disorders, this is *the* system to learn.  For those of you who have studied the Japanese styles taught by Bob Quinn and others, you will find many similarities in the XNKQ method of gentle needling, "listening" through the needle etc.

I hope you all are well and thriving in your lives and practices!  And I hope to see you at the seminar.

Brehan

Xing Nao Kai Qiao: Stroke  Rehabiliation
Advance Introduction Workshop

Starting in 2018 Dr. Shiu is excited to start teaching his personal lessons and training in Stroke rehabilitation and cerebral circulation.  This two-day introductory course is the first in a series of courses that, when successfully completed, will lead to a certification in Dr. Shiu’s Nanopuncture Stroke System.  This first course will cover the creation, research, and evolution of the most used stroke acupuncture system in China - Xing Nao Kai Qiao (XNKQ) - "Awaken the Spirit and Open the Orifices."    XNKQ was created by Dr. Shi Xue Min, and was famously documented in the award winning film 9,000 Needles.

Over the course of the two days, the anatomy of a stroke and its symptoms will be explained, and Chinese medicine research milestones that have been validated by western science will be explored. The original XNKQ points will be fully explained and advance detailed demonstrations of needle techniques for treating upper and lower extremity spasticity will be performed. Most importantly a significant portion of the course will be dedicated to needle technique and manipulation practice.

This advanced introductory course is mandatory to participate in subsequent Nanopuncture Stroke Series Modules which will teach and certify the practitioner to treat a complete range of post stroke sequealae disorders.
