Hi All

A reminder for the up coming club trip for the Tekapo / Pukaki release on the 30 & 31 January

The releases are scheduled as:
Tekapo 11am to 5pm including the slalom course at 18 cumecs.
The river is a short grade 2 paddle which can be run more than once as it only takes about & hr & has a short shuttle.
The Slalom is of to the side of the main river is man made & looks to have some good play spot. Can be run in plastic river boats, play boats or slalom boats.

Pukaki 11am to 1pm at 90 cumes & 1pm to 4pm at 140 cumecs.
More powerful but apprantly a lot of fun.

Plan at this stage is to either travel up on friday night or saturday morning. Anyone planning on coming along can let me know what there preference is. There is camping beside both rivers or the camp ground at Tekapo

For those not into kayaking the are other activities to do such as mtb, walking & fishing etc

I just had a look on Rivers.org and it says the tekapo release on saturday has been cancelled but there is no mention of a sunday release.

I was half way through the email and checked the access forum and 6 minutes ago mike birch wrote

"Alan Hoffman reports that the Tekapo Release this weekend has been cancelled due to the high level of Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki. Consequently the Pukaki spillway will be discharging 140 cumecs from now until next week, including this weekend"

so anyone paddling the pukaki? read on the forum something about one G4 drop then a lot of G2.

also Anna Thompson is looking for a ride to mt cook on sunday from dunedin or twizel, anyone able to help drop us a line
