OCFL Community,

As we announced earlier, work on the V1.1 release of the Specification has begun. The release provides clarifications and minor corrections to the V1.0 specification as a result of various OCFL implementation initiatives. As a point release, V1.1 will not introduce any breaking changes. More significant enhancements are proposed for a future V2.0 release.

This note provides some more detail on the release process that the Editors intend to use for the V1.1 release:

  • When all the issues listed under the V1.1 milestone have been addressed, the updated (alpha) specification will be available for community review for a period of not less than one month.
  • After the review period, feedback will be incorporated to produce a (beta) release-candidate specification. This will again be made available for review in a similar manner.
  • Once the specification is considered stable, fixtures and validators will be updated to reflect the new specification before V1.1 is formally released.
  • We aim to have V1.1 completed by the end of the year.

If you have particular issues or requests that you would like addressed in V1.1, please submit a ticket via GitHub or you can send an email to the OCFL Editors

Regards,

The OCFL Editors
