Hi Everyone,

I am writing today on behalf of the Fedora Governance Group to invite you to a series of open discussions about the future of Fedora technology. With the release of Fedora 6.x in 2021 and the slow, yet steady adoption rate of the new version, we recognize the need to bring community voices to the table to help us understand your successes, technology needs, pain points and any barriers you are facing as they relate to your Fedora implementations.

The Fedora Governance Group is committed to ensuring that Fedora serves its community in the ways it is designed to. For us to continue our work planning for the future, we need your input. As a result, we have organized a series of User Information Gathering Sessions.

Purpose:

  • These sessions will provide an open platform for you to discuss your implementation and help us understand how Fedora can better meet your needs and that of the community-at-large.
  • We encourage participation from all levels within your institution, but are specifically looking for those who work more closely with the software or technology stack.
  • Facilitators will have a series of questions to guide the discussion and will be compiling all of the findings at the end of the sessions.

When will the sessions take place?

To structure the conversations, we have divided the sessions into two groups:

  • Users on older versions of Fedora/New Fedora Users
  • Fedora 6.x Users

How to Participate:

Simply select the category which best describes your institution’s situation and use the links to register for your spot. The dates listed are the registration links.

Users on older versions/new users:

Wednesday, April 12 @ 1pm Eastern            Friday, April 21 @ 9am Eastern

Wednesday, May 17 @ 1pm Eastern               Friday May 19 @ 9am Eastern

Fedora 6.x Users:

Monday, June 5 @ 12pm Eastern                  Monday, June 12 @ 9am Eastern

We hope you will consider our invitation to participate. This effort is an important next step in the future of Fedora, and we are encouraging all community members to join the discussion. Feel free to forward this email to colleagues inside or outside of your institutions. We want to hear from everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am extremely proud of the work our committers and community volunteers have accomplished in the last few years and am looking forward to more successes in the future.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Gilbert - Fedora Governance Chair
