The above didn't work for me, and I did see some comments from others unable to make it work, so I am not sure if there is a conflict in some themes. We are using Debut, and need a simple popup. We want a link like, "Do you need it?" that pops up a small box with an image and text. It would be nice if it also had the screen overlay like most of them do, but that's not a necessity. It does need an easy close option.
I have set these up several times in Wordpress, but I am not as familiar with Shopify. I have tried several different methods I've found on Codepen. When I click the link, the page scrolls up a bit but there is no popup. I am fairly certain it's the Javascript not working. I have tried adding the Javascript to the theme.liquid above the closing head tag and have also tried adding it before the closing body tag. This popup will be on specific product pages, so I have also tried including it in a products page template with no success. Any ideas?
I'm sure there is a native popup that ships with debut, but I haven't figured out what it's using yet.

I am currently setting up my site and using the simple theme. At the top of the page in the header are search bar, login, sign up and the cart icon. I'd like to remove Sign up and add text with links to pages directly. Example at the top I'd like Login, Store, About us, etc. I'm able to modify the side bar and the footer without issue but can't seem to figure out how to modify the header. I understand it is somewhere in the header.liquid but I don't see the text "Sign Up" in there so I don't believe that is the origination point for the info.
How do I adjust the header so I can add a drop down menu for selecting items and remove unwanted items from there? In the screenshot below you'll see the Sign Up that I'd like to remove and the empty space that I'd like to populate with other links.
