The client is looking for a senior Payment Expert who is more functional and business-focused rather than purely technical. This role is essentially a bridge between business stakeholders, product teams, and IT, so they need someone who can lead conversations, gather requirements, and translate business needs into payment solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong domain expertise across ACH, Wire, SWIFT, RTP, and Cards, along with a deep understanding of the end-to-end payment lifecycle (initiation to settlement and reconciliation). They’re specifically seeking someone with 10+ years of experience who is comfortable driving stakeholder discussions, facilitating workshops, and designing functional architectures, while also ensuring compliance with standards like NACHA, ISO 20022, SWIFT, and PCI-DSS. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment are critical, as this is a highly visible, client-facing role.

We are seeking a highly experienced Payment Architect with a strong functional and business-facing background to support strategic payment initiatives.

This role will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, product teams, and technology, ensuring that payment solutions are aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in payment domains (ACH, Wire, RTP, SWIFT, Cards) along with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to drive discussions, gather requirements, and translate them into effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary liaison between business, product, and technology teams for payment-related initiatives

• Lead daily interactions with stakeholders to gather, refine, and validate requirements

• Translate complex business needs into functional requirements and solution designs

• Facilitate workshops, discussions, and decision-making sessions with cross-functional teams

• Define end-to-end payment flows and functional architecture across ACH, Wire, RTP, and card systems

• Provide domain expertise in payment lifecycle (initiation, processing, clearing, settlement, reconciliation)

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in payments domain with strong functional expertise

• In-depth knowledge of ACH, Wire, SWIFT, RTP, Cards, and payment lifecycle processes

• Proven experience working in business-facing or functional architect roles

• Strong experience in requirement gathering, stakeholder management, and solutioning

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in fast-paced, cross-functional environments

• Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

• Ensure solutions comply with NACHA, SWIFT, ISO 20022, PCI-DSS, and other regulatory standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or brokerage domain

• Familiarity with payment modernization and digital transformation initiatives
