In 2006 I started the Orange County Embedded Java Users Group
(OCEJUG) to meet and work with other developers using Java on small
devices or using Java to interface to devices which interact with
the physical world. We also welcomed embedded developers in
general. Since 2008, with the arrival of Android devices, the OCEJUG
has evolved into a group which is more Android centric. It now makes
sense to split the group into two entities: SoCalAndroid.org &
SoCalEmbedded.org.
Tonight is the last meeting of the OCEJUG and the 1st meeting of the
SoCal Android Developers group
(
http://www.socalandroid.org). For some this will seem like a last
minute announcement but the OCEJUG has been regularly meeting for
Hack Nights every Wednesday (except the 2nd Wed. of the month) and
today's message is simply the confirmation email that goes out on
the day of the meeting. If you are an Android enthusiast and can't
make tonight's meeting, you will get your chance again on 1/19,
1/26, 2/2, etc.
You can join the group mailing list here:

The OCEJUG is dead. Long live the SoCalAndroid!

********** And now for our usual Announcement ********
"Neither snow nor RAIN nor heat nor GLOOM of night stays these
couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds".
This was our ambient condition last week but of course we are now
back on Steve Martin's prerecorded weather reports.
We're meeting tonight, Wednesday, 7:00pm @ Smart-Soft.
*****
Stop by and learn about Android. PLEASE BRING YOUR LAPTOP. We can
help you best this way, and if you've not yet setup an Android
development environment we can help you with that and get you
started with your first application.
Pizza:
We serve pizza at our meetings -- the nutrition of hackers world
wide, and the only time I get to eat pizza. I can't tell you where
we're going to get it from. I've grown a little weary of stopping
to pick up the Pizza on the way so we might just use our phones to
order something online. We'll try to remember the little pepper
packets.
Please RSVP so I know how much pizza to bring or order. If you
indicate you're going to attend then please show up.
