I need help obtaining a Maps API debug key

So I've located the debug.keystore file on my system as they say to do. So now it says

Once you have located the keystore, use this Keytool command to get the MD5 fingerprint of the debug certificate:

$ keytool -list -alias androiddebugkey \
-keystore <path_to_debug_keystore>.keystore \
-storepass android -keypass android

I'm confused about that step.  Where do I use this Keytool command?
