We have a brand new Android tablet. Last Fri. Sears had a sale on the
Viewsonic gTablet (http://www.viewsonic.com/gtablet/; $349) and I jumped
on it. Mostly because I had a Galaxy tablet on order ($599) but Amazon
failed to deliver and then raised the price by $50; and because I found
this link here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/12/08/how-to-unleash-the-power-of-the-viewsonic-g-tablet-and-turn-it-into-the-best-performing-tablet-on-the-market/
Some highlights:
1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 (dual core) processor
10.1" LCD; 1024x600; 1080p video;
512MB RAM; 16GB internal SD Card
Plus it will accept another 32GB SD card for 16+32=whatever GB's
(someone grab a Google'ite to do the math; all I can tell you is that
it's a lot)
Also, it has USB hosting
Wifi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
Docking port
I comes with Froyo (Android 2.2) but Viewsonic put UI overlay on it and
the whole thing is hideous out of the box: no Google apps; no Market, No
flash; and choppy interface. A little time spent upgrading to a custom
ROM and viola! A really nice functional Android tablet with Google
apps, Market, Flash, and smoother UI. Keep an eye on this device and
expect the price to drop as new tablets hit the market. Also, no GPS
(but neither does the iPad) and this is a little problematic.

Stop by and learn about Android. PLEASE BRING YOUR LAPTOP. We can help
you best this way, and if you've not yet setup an Android development
environment we can help you with that and get you started with your
first application.
Pizza:
We serve pizza at our meetings -- the nutrition of hackers world wide,
and the only time I get to eat pizza. I can't tell you where we're
going to get it from. I've grown a little weary of stopping to pick up
the Pizza on the way so we might just use our phones to order something
online. We'll try to remember the little pepper packets.
Please RSVP so I know how much pizza to bring or order. If you indicate
you're going to attend then please show up.

If you're new or just coming to check out a meeting let us know in
advance specifically what you are interested in, depending on what we're
working on we may not have all our gadgets, toys and hardware with us.
