Since the process, as stated on Jud's website, has the community plan
update preceding the development of zoning recommendations, to present
the commercial plan at this time is to ignore your own process.
Since the commercial committee recommendations are based on the
outdated community plan, do not consider the survey results and quote
the authority of something they refer to as "village atmosphere," it
is not appropriate to present them, even in draft form at this time.
If you want a legitimate result it is important to follow the
prescribed process.

Hi Kris and Richard,
I’ve added some Discussion info to a couple of sections of the Commercial Committee recommendations and highlighted the changes. I think that the document should be sent to the ONA membership so that everyone knows what we’ve been working on, but I prefer not to put it on the agenda for the July meeting because I’m not sure who if anyone from the committee will be at that meeting and the document is still a work in progress that I only sent out, because the process has dragged on so long. Again, our recommendations for changes to the Oceanside Commercial Code are only recommendations and unless a specific change is approved by the ONA, the change will not be made.
The Commercial Committee has put in a lot of hard work and continues to work on the Oceanside Commercial Code so I hope our efforts will not be sidelined by the update of the Oceanside Community Plan. I agree the Oceanside Community Plan should be updated, but based on survey results (see below), I doubt that the concept of Oceanside as a village would be dropped in favor focusing on being tourist destination. I’ve only been here 10 years, so I wasn’t here when the Oceanside Community Plan was adopted, but I’ve always thought of Oceanside as a village and would hate to see us lose what makes Oceanside unique among coastal towns.

Kris,
As I said, I don’t know if anyone from the Commercial Committee will be at the July ONA because of the holiday and other conflicts. That may also be the case with other people in the ONA. I’m may not be at the meeting either depending on how I feel. I’m still having problems from my head injury and have been very tired lately.
I think the document with Commercial Committee Recommendations should be distributed by email to all ONA sooner rather than later, so hopefully the Discussion behind each Recommendation is read as well as the Recommendations. I would prefer the Commercial Committee Recommendations be on the agenda of a future meeting where more Commercial Committee members and more of the ONA will likely be present.
