As Richard and Judd can confirm, at the time I let the Zone and Plan
Review Committee I was pleased with results of everyone's hard work on
the community survey, but troubled that the full survey results had
gone unavailable to the public as we'd promised everyone. I'd
promised to see if I could figure out a way to get them back up for
sharing and I'm pleased to share that I have now found a cost-free
solution.
Without the benefit of the ProSurvey tool we used for a time, the over
one-hundred twenty-five page excel spread sheet the tabulated results
and full comments live in became too big for easy sharing. I've been
using a web application - "GoogleDocs" - for about three months now
and find it to be a stable, reliable way to share complex documents.
I've taken our final survey results as tabulated by Mark Flock and
published them at Google Docs. You do not have to have a google
account to see them. And although the service can allow for editing,
this feature is not enabled and the survey is simply available for
viewing. An index by question number makes it easy to navigate
through the document.
I hope this helps facilitate the committee's work and keeps it in line
with what we represented to the Planning Commission last summer when
Richard, Kris and I testified at that time:
Next Steps:
* Survey update just completed and released to the Zone and Plan
Review (ZAPR) Committee Friday Aug 2
* Make the results available to the general public through web -
presentation AND raw results
+ www.oceansidefriends.org for links to survey results
* ZAPR plans to use survey results to
o Identify compelling support for new or revised ordinances
o Identify highly divided questions for future discussions
o Identify opportunities for education
o Capture “bright ideas” for follow-up
* Later: compare against 1995 & 2000 for perspective
