FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
2010
Fellow club members,
As my first presidential letter I would like to let you know that the
OAC directors have been hard at work planning the upcoming events for
our club.
Our outgoing president Stan, will be presiding over our 2010 Banquet
coming up in a few days this Saturday, February 20th, 2010. Drinks
start at 6pm, dinner at 7pm, raffle and awards will follow at 8pm. If
you haven’t signed up yet, download an application from our web site
or stop by Ken’s and get your money in. We are limited to 110 people
total and expect to sell out this year.
Thanks to Wes and his many other helpers, we are putting together
another great raffle with lots of fishing goodies donated by the club,
vendors, and our members. If you have any items you would like to
donate for the raffle bring them by Ken’s shop today. Our banquet is
always a highlight of the year for me. It represents the start of
fishing season, better weather, and hanging out with good friends.
Our first regular meeting of the year will be on March 9th. Please
mark this on your calendar. It is the SECOND Tuesday of March. We
changed the date from the first Tuesday to not interfere with the Fred
Hall Show scheduled for March 3rd thru March 7th in Long Beach. By
holding our meeting following this event, we can talk about what we
purchased and saw at the show. We also have a couple of speakers
scheduled to instruct us on how to get your tackle and boat ready for
the season plus another great raffle with new items straight from the
Fred Hall Show.
We are still moving forward with our Open Halibut tournament and Open
Bass tournament to help get our participation up in these two events.
We will have 2010 tournament dates for you at our meeting in March.
Not to let the cat out of the bag but I hear Joe and Ken have some
exciting news for us on our award winners in 2009. In 2008 the awards
were swept by Gametime and their Crew. I hear this year things are
spread out a little with a twist at the end.
Past news in December is that Joey and I had a great time giving out
the donated gifts and fishing rods at Camp Pendleton. It was
questioned if the fishing rods would be accepted very well. We were
told they have a father son fishing derby coming up soon and had no
idea where they were going to get the fishing rods that they needed
for this event. They really appreciated our donation for their event.
Finally don’t forget to check out the new Website Jamie has been
working on at http://www.oceansideanglersclub.com . It has great
information on it and will be updated continually this year. You can
also sign up and get tournament news, updates, and of course our
newsletters by email.
Until this Saturday,
Rick Windbigler
