I'm thinking about picking up a Tubus Duo front rack for occasional use on multi day rides. I'll be riding without low riders for like 99% of the time, so I thought this rack would be most appropriate since it'll play nice with light front light mounted on the M1 rack. I'm assuming the hoop from other lowriders would cast a big shadow.

I read in a previous thread that the Rambler lowrider mounts are higher than average. Does anyone have experience with mounting a Duo, or have other suggestions for lowriders?

thanks,

Kevin,

I'm using the Tubus Tara. I avoid the headlight shadow problem by mounting my headlight on the front tab of my Mark's Rack with a bracket that elevates it "just enough" to solve the shadow problem. I know this is just one approach, but I thought I'd let you know that it works well for me.

Kevin:

This mentions a distance of 165 mm from fork eyelet to mid-fork thru mount for the Duo:

The Tara appears to share that dimension:

If I were you I'd check with Rob but it sure looks like if a Tara will work a Duo will as well.  While I don't have a Rambler, I use the Duo and like how easily it can be installed & removed.  The Tara would appear to be as easily installed.

2 observations and 1 question
1.  165mm from the rear eyelet to the fork hole is a defacto standard for most forks.
2.  The Tara meets the defacto standard.  It's horizontal tube should end up parallel to the ground if the Rambler fork meets the standard

Question:  what is the distance ON THE RAMBLER FORK????  Suggest Rob Perks mention the spacing he specs for the Rambler fork on his Rambler page

3.  extra observation,  Bruce Gordon Low riders require 190mm (7.5").  He does sell an adaptor low rider (F1-S) for the 165mm spacing.  I do not know if the F1-S has enough slot to accommodate the increase fork offset in a low trial fork (like the Rambler).
